Like them or hate them?

A very popular Californian custom back in the day. Many dealers carried out the modification before the new owner collected their car.

I flew past La Brea, Schwab's and Crescent Heights
And all the Jag could see were my six tail lights
He passed me at Doheny then I started to swerve
But I pulled her out and there we were at Dead Man's Curve

Jan & Deans song Dead man’s curve.

Me personally I like them. Been toying to do it to mine but never got round to it.

If meaning cutting the split out, many doing this later wanted to kick their own ass as later years
the split window was worth far more than model years that did not have the split

No team, it was the six tail light conversion I was talking about.

What you said was quite true, many 1963 owners removed the split to make their car look newer once it was a year old and the new 64 came out.

My friend had what he thought was a 1964 for years and years. Later he found out he actually had a 1963 SWC with the split removed. He had it reinstalled, new glass and trims etc and had him a proper SWC.
