London C5 Owner

Hi everyone.

I am the new owner of a '98 c5 coupe and live in London. I have been informed by the previous owner that there are not too many c5 owners here in London (but there are still a few!) I'd love to know if anybody here owns a c5 (or any corvette for that matter) and wouldn't mind a chat / coffee!

Would be nice to meet some enthusiasts, I love this wonderful moving art-piece already and it's only been a week :)

Congratulations on acquiring a C5, I'm sure you won't regret it! šŸ‘
Are you north or south of the river (or east/west?)? There are regular regional gatherings in most areas around the capital (Essex, Kent, Surrey, Thames Valley and others) but no so much inside the M25!
You really should join the CCCUK as it is a great source of help, information and camaraderie. Details and benefits of joining are at the top of the homepage. How about posting a couple of photos of your car?
Welcome to the Corvette family šŸ˜

Thank you! Iā€™m based in West London, and yes unfortunately the types of events inside of the M25 are a little too ā€œrace focussedā€. For my liking. Definitely interested in the CCCUK, will have a look this weekend! Hereā€™s a few pics of the car. Havenā€™t had much time to drive it at the moment (selling my current car which is an equally beautiful MX-5 NB).

West London would give you a choice of two venues to visit to meet CCCUK owners, one is even inside the M25 (just) They are Thames Valley region and Surrey region.
T.V meet at The Bird in Hand pub in Know Hill RG10 9UPevery 3rd Wednesday of the month. Surrey meet at The Fairmile, Cobham, KT11 1BW every 4th Tuesday of the month.
Both regions are friendly and have social outings and car show attendances

Welcome to the CCCUK Forum - I'm based in outer London's eastern borders and although driving a ULEZ exempt C3 I struggle increasingly to find any motivation to drive the car in to London (any car in fact) given what Khan and previous mayors and local authorities have done for vehicular movements. Hopefully your C5 is ULEZ exempt? - Essex region meet just outside Chelmsford and Kent region meets at Wrotham. North London & Herts I believe meets near Enfield.

Thank you both. I've heard of good things in Surrey, and there are a few other outings nearby which i'd like to explore rubyragtop! Roscobbc, my C5 is a '98 euro spec and it being ULEZ was my main requirement. I think you'd be surprised, as long as you plan your journey with your ULEZ vehicle and avoid the central regions, it's not too bad. Although I may be biased, living here and all

I have spoken to an owner who is selling his beautiful C3 living in West London, a mere mile away from where I am. He owns a lounge in the area and suggested that if I gather enough enthusiasts that are willing to travel to the area, we could use his lounge once-a-month for a gathering! Maybe wishful thinking but it's early days.

Hi VantaR: - If we were to 'drill-down' in to our membership datebase interestingly we'd find relatively few members physically located in Central London postal districts.
We'll see more members perhaps in outer London postcodes, and districts just-out of London catchment.
With successive London mayors and anti-car use London boroughs bringing-in the cycle 'superhighways', low traffic neighborhoods, closed 'rat runs' and no-through routes for me personally travelling from east London in to the West End in an early Vette (with the additional of 20 mph speed limits and multiple traffic cameras) is a seriously big faff. Old time destinations like the Chelsea Cruise have finally finished - even the Ace Cafe can be a real bind to get to unless travelling from north of London.
You are perhaps lucky in some respects if located in the heart of West London which to a degree lives in a bit of a bubble. What part of West London is your friends bar located?

I live in Kent (just by the Dartford crossing) but regularly drive into South East London. May as well be a different country with how awkward it is driving East to West in London I appreciate but I may see you about I'm sure ;)

Over here (North side of Thames) we have the A13 and its issues - South of the Thames you'll have the A2 and its issues. We both will have alternative routes and our respective sides of the M25 with the minute by minute uncertainty that brings if using............
