The C8 Convertible model has roared back to 48% of all Corvettes produced in 2022.
That’s a 6% increase over the 2021 convertible model penetration, and it’s still quite possible for the convertible to actually be the top-selling model in the near future.
The 2022 Options Slide below from the NCM Bash shows that GM has accepted a total of 25,991 orders for the 2022 model year as of April 4th.
To extrapolate those numbers, 48% represents approximately 12,476 Corvette Convertibles vs the 13,515 Coupes produced.
GM stated that Convertibles haven’t accounted for this high of a percentage of production since the 1968 model year.
That was the final year in which convertibles drastically outsold the coupes.
According to the order stats, Convertible buyers were also more likely to order their Corvettes loaded with the 3LT accounting for 52% of all convertible orders.
40% of buyers selected the 2LT trim group, leaving just 8% opting for the 1LT base model.
For the Coupes, the 2LT is the top-selling trim group at 45% followed by the 3LT at 33% and the 1LT at 22%
When it comes to customizing those C8 Corvette convertibles, 37% of buyers selected the Carbon Flash Roof/Nacelles option, while 9% of buyers added just Carbon Flash nacelles to their build.
More stats show that Corvette owners refuse to live without the NPP exhaust, with a whopping 87% of Corvettes built with the noisemaker.
The Z51 plus Mag Ride (FE4) also accounts for nearly half of production, at 48%.
Speaking of which, the Z51 Performance Package looks to be included on 69% of all 2022 model year Corvettes.
A few numbers that show some rare options for the model year. Corvettes built with the (EFY) body-color trim account for only 6% of orders.
Chrome badges (EYK) are at 5%, and the stinger hood graphics are only found on just 3% of all Corvettes produced for 2022.
