Cae salesmen and estate agents........the're almost interchangeable. I recall the time my missus chose to buy an inexpensive new daily driver - a Ford Ka when they were first released. She was happy to pay cash - we went to the main Ford dealer (back in the day) and I stood behind as she asked a a couple of staff (presumably the manager and a salesman for information about the Ka and its variants. That didn't go well. One of the two men chose to attempt to correct her on the pronounciation of the work Ka. She (as indeed would I) called it a "Kay A". The male chose to cirrect her, saying "Its a Kah madam" with the emphasis on a 'soft "ah". Ready to spend £5000 my wife was instantly offended by the lesson in grammar, told them to "stick it", turned on her heels and walked out. Guess the two men didn't realise the effect their attitude would have - she subsequently bought an MGF.....but thats a different story.
Some sales people are ignorant and stupid. We walked in to the dealer in scruffy clothes.......guarantee had we have been in smart clothing we'd have been fauned over. And yes I've had that response of zero discount from sales staff at the showroom only to see discount on-line at the same location.
