SERVICE RIDE CONTROL C0594

My 2001 C5 Targa has started saying 'SERVICE RIDE CONTROL' every time I start the car.
The onboard diagnostics shows the error code 'C0594 H C' meaning it is an Historic and Current code. If I clear the code, it comes back after around 10 seconds.
My car does have the TOUR/SPORT setting switch on the centre console, I have had a quick visual check of all the small black boxes in each wheel arch that is connected to the suspension for any obvious signs of issues. I've also checked the wiring and connectors in case any have broken or come apart... nothing obvious 🤷‍♂️
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction?
Maybe a simple clean of the connectors is needed?
Or is it something that I can get mapped out? because I've personally never noticed any difference between the modes with my cars low ride height and low profile tyres etc. 😂😂😂
Cheers (y)

You need to focus your debugging on the right rear shock and control for it

Possible Causes of the DTC C0594
Is for the right rear shock
The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
  1. Faulty Right Rear Solenoid Right Rear Solenoid harness is open or shorted
  2. Right Rear Solenoid circuit or control on top of the shock
  3. Poor electrical connection, including to the shock wiring connector
  4. Or wiring from that controller up to the engine bay
How to Fix the DTC C0594

Visually examine the corresponding wiring harness and connectors.
Might have to use an Ohm meter and ring out each wire end to end
Ensure to check for any damaged components and inspect the connector pins for signs of being broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded.
Check grounds at that right rear corner

You could try and pull fuse 7 in the fuse panel in engine bay or relay 41 which both are for the damping system

Or pry apart the ground splice pack 400 at rear and check all male and female ground pins

If it helps I've just removed all of my active ride control stuff and replaced with a set of Bilstein B8s (coded out the F55 option using tech II). I've kept all the components so could probably donate the rear right shock if needed. Cost if you want to go down that route is around £350-400 inc delivery from Rock Auto.

I'd check the solenoid connector, that seems like the most obvious point of failure!

I have Bilstein shocks fitted also. But the little black boxes are all still connected up. Maybe I should look in to the Tech II to just eliminate the message on the dash???
But I'll definitely have a mess with the connectors at some point over the weekend. I want to strip and clean my brakes anyway, so it's a good excuse to have a mooch

I suggest you relook at what DTC trips as the C0594 does not look like it is for your year Corvette
Report again what DTCs trip

But if you do not intend to fix the problem that as above pull fuse and or relay
Or using a GM Tech-II being the damping was an option F45, turn that option off

If wanting to debug and have a decent scanner or Tech-II look at the functions and see what they report like this

Or if wanting to debug and fix using the GM service manuals for the C5s
Start with book 1, section 3 and starts at page 142, all everything about the ESC and shocks for F45 is there including the wiring and each wheels shocks DTC and how to debug

you can use the tech II to remove the active damper option but I wouldn’t recommend it unless changing the shocks.

Is it saying the car is limited to 80MPH? It usually does when there is a fault.

I’d check the shock connector in the rear right wheel well first… that’s the most likely culprit. Then I’d be checking continuity from there to the active damping ecu which is in the left hand boot cubby hole. If you’re certain it’s connected and there isn’t a wiring fault you might need to change the solenoid or shock (not sure if you can just change the solenoid)

if you’re not bothered about having the active ride stuff I would install a new set of shocks and code it out…
