Personally I would reply
dear sirs,
I would like to move this situation forward by telling you to stick your Corvette where the sun doesn't shine, I signed up two years ago to purchase my dream car for the MSRP as stated at the time of order, you sir are just trying to profiteer out of my situation and the factories inability to produce enough cars for world wide demand, therfore I would like my deposit returned with two years worth of compensation added, I look forward to your response ......

I think he will be one of many to receive such a notification from the supplying dealership. Once one dealership does it others will follow. They will not waste a golden opportunity to increase their margins by selling a car for MRSP when they can sell it for much more.
there’s plenty of people out there that will gladly pay over the top just to get one or say they have one.

a similar thing happened with the Corvette in 1978 with the first corvette pace car. People were paying way over sticker just to get one. Everyone was sold, some 6000 odd cars.

also in 1976 with the last year for the Cadillac Eldorado convertible. Again way over sticker was asked for the car. And they sold every one. In fact the last 200 special editions were selling at some of the highest prices ever seen for a domestic automobile
