Checking for wear on my steering I've found some play in the control valve (picture courtesy of RockAuto)
There's no oil leaking but a bit of looseness in the middle of the part along with some clunking.
Is this normal or is it time for a new part?

You need to check for play with the engine running, the pressure within the valve takes up some of the play.
