Sure looks like the same one we had on display at Corvettes at the Lakes just before going back stateside to be auctioned off at Scottsdale..

When I went to see it for the first time in Sheffield to check out some numbers:

That USA sign is now in my garage.

And a photo saved from FB just now on display at MCACN

Only 12 built so very likely the same Corvette that sold for $212k at Scottsdale AZ and was in very poor condition.

Don't know where the silver SWC ended up which was auctioned over here.

For sure. It had a low impact bump on the offside front.

It ran, drove and was loud and he said I could take it for a spin but as one of the 12 had just sold for $900k I chickened out ☹️ wish I had now..

Sad really that no one here in the UK had either the wealth, foresight and perhaps cohones to buy it, sympathetically restore and more importantly 'show' it at events, even running it at the 'Pod.
Of course the typical UK Tweed Jacketed mynopic old school Tweed jacketed view of most things that originated in the 'states didn't (until perhaps the last few years) help recognition of the rareity of certain American vehicles.
I remember talking with the owner about this (and perhaps other equally rare cars he owned) some 20/25 years ago) when he was selling something else.
He was the sort of person that would willingly chat about his cars (and specifically this one and its extreme rarity)........I'm guessing but most of the people supposedly 'in the know' back then dismissed the whole thing as untrue and him as a BS merchant?.
Me? I kinda 'sided' with him and was minded to believe his claims as having myself previously owned a couple of rare and arguably 'unrecognised' ultra low no's big block Fords (one being a 'Saturday Night Special) and was well used to people with minimal brand knowledge being dismissive and 'putting things down'.
