Today I'm embarrassed to be even remotely associated with America.

I have been a proud owner of an American car and I have enthusiastically supported this club since the 1970's.
What I've just seen from the US president was an absolute disgrace and shameful behaviour in his disrespect for Volodymyr Zelensky, who had the temerity to ask for some guarantees of continued US support in the face of disgusting aggression from Putin, as a price for giving America unfettered access to Ukraine's mineral riches.
What Trump and Vance have done is to show the world their true colours as bullying, narcissistic apologists for Russia.
Right now I'm ashamed to own an American car. And I never thought I would ever say that.
A very, very sad day.

Agree 100% about the shameful politics of Trump, and the terrible state of a world where the truth doesn't seem to matter any more with people like him and Putin in power.

But I still love my car, and it will be proudly wearing "Stand with Ukraine" stickers going forward as a statement of support for Ukraine and against the Putin regime.

Yes he gets things done (historically dosen't concern himself re. legality/morality or feasibilty) insults everyone who went before him and 'non-believers', operates much like a market trader etc etc, not the slightest interest in any other country other than his own.......which he believes he now personally owns..............see any similarities in history (pre WW2 German)?

I saw him and his vice president bullying Mr Zelensky and it was not a pretty sight, but I still stand by my statement that we could do with our government looking after our own people before sending billions to other countries. I could go on and on about back door taxes, taking away of pensioner cold weather payments, lack of defence spending, promising no increase in council tax, promising lower fuel bills the list goes on.

I am in no way a fan of Trump and only time will tell if he makes the USA a better place.

At least Starmer has cut overseas aid and increased defense spending that has p***ed off the `do gooders ` but we should cut aid to zero and let the Johnny Foreigners fend for themselves . It would be all too easy to look across our political parties for someone who has the 'nads to sort out the efficient running of the UK - many are of the belief that the only person with the required cohones to do that since Margaret Thatcher (yes an oxymoron!) is Nigel Farage.
Could be that the UK arguably has already had its peculiarly English version of Trump.........in Boris Johnson. And that didn't so too well did it? - who ever a future PM may be will really need to address (and if required) re-nationalise our foreign owned utility companies and get our energy/fuel prices down to an acceptable level. Fortunately (and unlike Trumps USA) here in the UK we fully recognise that lost labour intensive industries can never be replaced - and even if they could the skills that were endemic in past generations will be lost within a few years with no proper apprenticeship schemes and likely salaries highly unlikely to attract potential young people looking for a lifetime career.

Ukraine has secured a hefty £2.6 billion defense loan (approximately $3.56 billion) from the United Kingdom,
one day after being unceremoniously kicked out of the White House.
The loan, announced during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to London, is earmarked to bolster Ukraine’s military capabilities, enabling investments in critical equipment such as air defense systems and artillery.

This financial support comes on top of the UK’s existing £3 billion (approximately $3.77 billion) annual military aid to Ukraine.
The agreement was formalized during a meeting between UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and President Zelenskyy at Downing Street.

The Chancellor Rachel Reeves made the announcement alongside Defence Secretary John Healey while visiting Ukrainian personnel who are being trained in the UK.
More than 45,000 personnel have been trained in the UK under Operation INTERFLEX and the scheme has been extended to at least the end of 2025.

The UK’s £2.26 billion loan is earmarked as budgetary support for Ukraine’s military spending, enabling the Ukrainians to invest in key equipment to support their efforts against Russia, such as air defence, artillery and wider equipment support.
It comes on top of the UK’s existing £3 billion a year military aid for Ukraine, which the Prime Minister re-committed to within his first week in office.
The UK has sent around 400 different capabilities to Ukraine, with Defence Secretary John Healey MP recently announcing that the UK will supply 650 Lightweight Multirole Missile systems to Ukraine to boost the country’s air defences.

Not a good move by Norway. It could play right in to Trumps hands, simply adds fire and faux justified purpose to the Trump administration seeming intent to let Europe 'fight it all out' on their (our?) own. Unfortunately his entourage will see all the public farefare of the UK and Europe 'siding around' Zelensky as even further justification for minimising US involvement.........they'll want to sell arms, munitions, aircraft etc (to keep their factories running) to someone though!

The Norwegian government had no choice but to intervene. Defense Minister Tore O. Sandvik issued an official statement reaffirming that the Norwegian government does not support Haltbakk Bunkers’ reckless decision and that the U.S. military will continue to receive all necessary support in Norway.

The statement reads:

"We have seen reports raising concerns about support for US Navy vessels in Norway. This is not in line with the Norwegian government’s policy. I can confirm that all requested support has been provided.
The U.S. and Norway maintain a close and strong defense cooperation. American forces will continue to receive the supply and support they require from Norway."
