Do they really work? - the weight of the car is still biased towards the tyre footprint where it contacts the ground. Would have thought supporting the front and rear suspension on axle stands would be more effective. Others (and I have done it myself) over-inflate the tyres.........is there a 'downside' to subjecting the tyres to excessive pressure?

I just over inflate to around 35 psi over the winter months when the car is rarely used and then roll car backwards and forwards every couple of weeks or so to make sure the car never sits on the same contact spot for long periods . Never had any issues in 8 years . Like Roscobbc I am a bit sceptical about how effective chocks are .

Yes I will go for moving car back and forth and raising and lowering pressures when driving not storing, There are some good dry road winter days to exercise the car unlike its old home in ny state where it was parked up for 2/3 months through the winter.
