Use the Engine Oil GM says for the C8

C8 Owners question why they should buy the more costly ESP Dexos engine oil, where the Europe Mobil 1 is much cheaper in cost.

An answer to "why" the ESP Dexos II from the Mobil 1 rep is recommended (for the Corvette Small Block engines with dry sump systems),
was that the Dexos brand "has better aeration of the oil in a dry sump system" than does the European Formula Mobil 1.

Chevrolet has recommended the Dexos brand since the C7 which also was a dry sump engine.
As far as availability and pricing, searching the internet will get you lots of retail sellers with a wide variety of pricing!

It seems that Exon Mobil is doing special oils for GM and Corvette in particular.

The recommendation for the LT6 Z06 engine is a 5W-50 (with a new ESP Dexos6 formulation).

What is "better aeration of the oil"? And given that most Corvettes don't have fancy overhead cams you'd wonder what all the fuss is about.

At MAL we were moved by Mobil from the FS to ESP X3 0W-40 oil.
Dry sump twin turbo V8 and twin turbo V6 application.
My understanding is that ESP is friendlier to GPFs and also has added low speed preignition (LSPI) protection.

Either way, we then moved to Gulf as part of a corporate deal!
