What’s in a front

By 1979 the corvette nose hadn’t changed much since the 1973 urethane changeover, and some would say looked a bit dated.

Then the new 1980 came out with a new “air dam” front as it was often called.
Looked bang up to date for the 80’s. Always thought this front looked great.IMG_2286.jpegIMG_2287.jpeg

Whilst my favourite 'front' has always been a '68 to '72 C3, that '80 onwards front-end really is an equal contender appearance-wise and IMHO actually takes the front-end styling forward to (arguably) even today in terms of a modern appearance.......sadly perhaps the interior didn't keep pace..........

I think the 1973 corvette was one of the first to have a “ plastic” bumper. The early 70’s Pontiac GTO’s and LeMans could be had with the “endura “ bumper which was again plastic body coloured rather the the chrome bumper. Chevrolet obviously took note for a later date which was 1973.

The only Caddi I've owned was a '48 sedan. Last year for flathead V8's.
Oddly that car was almost more 'British' than British if you get my drift. Relatively somber interior with grey Bedford cord upholstery and a woodgrain effect dashboard the only giveaway to bring in a yank was the one year only chrome instrument panel. Ride and handling was surprisingly taut....unlike later cars.
