Been banging up a frame and decking over my wife’s potting shed, there is method in my madness tho, I found on market place a grey ali single glazed door and frame . I plan to fit this in the gable end of the mezzanine /man cave above the vette room, this will give loads of light and open the room to the garden. Yes, and no doubt as you will find in future years those building erections prove more challenging to contruct and maintain as you become older..........wish there was some kind of pill you could could take to help build-up ones strength when doing extensive building work (perhap as is obtainable for other certain medical 'needs')

I wish I had one of those strength pills. No matter how hard I grasp my shaft, I can't get my nuts to do anything. I've heard people mention penetration lubricant might help though. Maybe I'll try that.

Try Duck Oil , it seems to work on ducks and their nuts are permanently in the water !! :ROFLMAO:

Got a new lawn mower John!.
So what?

I bought a new rotary, petrol powered mower this week.
Rather interestingly it's user instructions made a really big thing about the 'issues' of using E10 unleaded fuel. So much so that it included a syphon pump with lengths of tubing in 'the box'. The instructions went into detail about not leaving any petrol in the tank for extended periods (like over winter) even to the extent of reminding the user that fuel can deteriorate after just a week. And, true enough previous mowers I've owned in the last few years have always been problematic when 'firing-up' after the winter lay-off. I've seen the damage that the hygroscopic Ethanol content (even though very small) can cause within the fuel system, especially if steel components are present. I'm guessing motor mower suppliers (since the introduction of E10) have historically experienced major warranty issues with newly purchased mowers following the first winter 'lay-off' and start-up.
It brings the 'use' of our own cars to mind when starting-up after, perhaps a 5/6 month period of being laid-up in the garage.

Very interesting and slightly worrying cautionary tale. I imagine that most classic car enthusiasts like us are aware of the dreaded ethanol issues but wonder how many motorists are blissfully unaware ???

Interestingly perhaps Chuffer I always use Super Unleaded in the Vette, ok so we can't get the Ethanol free anymore so it's 5% Ethanol of Tesco's best.
I generally leave two or three gallons at best in the Vette over the typical winter lay-off and on the basis that a spring fill-up of perhaps 7 or 8 gallons to mix with any 'old' and stale fuel remaining in the tank.
I'm wondering about the logic of that now (with the Ethanol content of Super Unleaded) given the very occasional pinking issue which I'm wondering now may have coincided with a previous 'mix' of old and new petrol.
This year I've totally drained the Vette fuel tank, mainly to top up the daily driver and this week to try out the new lawnmower (which appeared to run fine). Importantly I put the remaining 3 or 4 litres in the otherwise virtually empty 3 cylinder VW daily drivers fuel tank.
It was ok but when the 3 bangers tank was later filled fully with ordinary unleaded the running difference was really quite noticeable compared with the 'old' Super Unleaded.
Think I'll be draining-off the Vette gas tank over future winters.

I always try to winterise the C3 with as little fuel as possible in too . I ran on Esso 99 RON ethanol free until that ceased to exist so run on Tesco`s top juice too and save a few bob in the process . I also add Lucas Oil Products ` Safeguard ` ethanol protection additive with every fill up as it has top review ratings . The daily drivers have STP Ultra 5 in 1 every 4000 miles in the daily drivers .
