What is this engine ?

Big block Chevy with single plane inlet is a tall engine (due to inlet) could be up to 502 or perhaps 540 - 555 cu in on a standard height (9.8") block. Tall deck (10.2") block creates issues with finding a suitable hood and headers but allows for engines as large as 571, 632 ci in or even larger (and disproportionately expensive) engines.

And obviously a conversion to site the alternator on the passenger side - wouldn’t mind having that setup on mine!
Congrats and good luck with the project.

Perhaps someone decided to 'balance' the underhood 'look' with an aftermarket pulley set-up - usually the alternator sits on the opposite side over the top of the power steering pump - if a/c is fitted its usually on the passenger side. Car looks to be perhaps '71 (or earlier car with modified/updated body panels) - if the original engine and a 1969 car it would have been a 427 - if a 70 or 71 car it will be a 454.......unless small block was replaced with big block or crate engine. Vin code on base of drivers side windscreen might help identify was the car originally was.

its surprising how high the car is sitting considering the motor is in (and a hefty big block at that). Doors are obviously very weighty and will drop It a bit.

That 'height' seems equal front and rear - being a project car I wonder if it has new front and rear springs?

I think it was advertised as a 427....probably bigger now for sure. Isn't one of the give away things to know if it's a true big block car the diameter of the fuel lines?

Looks a lot like a 427 or 454, I don’t think that’s a tall deck block. Still got iron heads too. I’m surprised that even an L88 hood fits over that Dart manifold.

Wow, looks like that engine rebuild and been never run
No sign of A/C at all

Where is the 4 speed tranny and looks like no exhaust from heads to mufflers
Lots of wiring needed to be done
