Wing/engine bay infill panel????

Hi,

could someone please upload a photo taken from under the front wheel arches showing the panel/insert that fills or partially fills the 'hole' between the wheel arch and the engine bay?? Both sides of my /79? are missing and there must be a great deal of crud that gets into the engine bay especially when wet. If I can get an idea of shape/depth/dimensions I'm sure I can fashion something from either rubber sheet or plastic. I'm sure its only held in position with plastic push rivets'/firtrees' or similar. PhotoIMG_1167.JPG attached.....its the arched aperture above the top wishbone of the front suspension.

Thanks

I think this is what your after. I put new ones on mine. Check what year they're for before ordering.

I was thinking they were going to be one of those things that’s silly money for no reason, but for £20 it’s not really worth making your own.

Now I don't know if I'm being particularly dense in fitting these, but does the bottom of the flap go inboard towards the engine and just lie on the top of the A arm and over the shocker top mount, or tuck between the A arm and the shock absorber mounting bracket or come outboard into the wheel arch? The car is still jacked up as I have the calipers off so the suspension is not at its normal ride height.

Hi trev ,
I fitted new ones to my 1980 a few days ago . If you have your car on stands with front wheels off you might find it easier to the lower fir tree press studs by reaching up from below and behind the inner wings . The studs need a fare bit of finger pressure or a tap with a hammer to push fully home and the lower part of inner wing flexes as you try to push them through . I managed with car on the ground but just thought it might be easier for you with wheels off .
