If you are interested in the history of the big block Corvette (and the development of the L88 powered cars) a thread just started-up over on the US Corvette Forum that may be of interest. Any later C2 427 powered C2 (or C3 Vette) looking to do a stock engine rebuild will have experiencde issues sourcing 'new' engine components for a number of years and it is perhaps interesting to see how similar (and improved) power outputs can be achieved using more up to date components like roller cams and rockers.
I still find it amazing that 'off the shelf' engine options with power outputs in excess of 500 hp were available the mid/late 60's........50 years ago!
