Guys, a plea for help.
I have had an intermittent problem on my 95 ZR1 for quite some time that has taken me a long time to track down to what I think is the problem. The service soon light will come on and the engine will not rev above 3k while the light is on. There is no pattern to the problem, hot , cold, short drives, long drives, error will come on for a few seconds or maybe even an hour or so. The error code is 56 - Secondary Air Inlet Actuator Vacuuum Sensor Circuit. First of all there is no problem with vacuum, the problem is an electrical one. I have replaced the sensor - no change. I have replaced the connector into the sensor - no change. I have looked for connection problems where the sensor connects into the ECM and despite wiggling the wires and connectors I am not able to reproduce the fault. The voltage from the ECM feeding the sensors is correct although I have not been able to measure it when the error is live. I am now 95% convinced I have some kind of intermittent error within the ECM itself that is perhaps dropping the voltage to the sensor and this is where I have a big ask of anyone. Would anyone with a ZR1 be willing to do a swap for a short while or let me use your ECM or put my ECM in your car to confirm that the ECM is the source of the problem? I have been talking to Marc Haibeck in the US (ZR1 specialist) and he concurs that this is the only way forward at the moment. I appreciate that it is a big ask but I can't think of any other way of proving that the ECM is the cause of the problem. If it is then that will be the next hurdle to try and get hold of a replacement.
Appreciate any help on this as it's driving me nuts.
