Hi teamzr1, I don’t suppose you have one of those for a 69? If so, would you mind sharing? Cheers![]()
Very helpful. Thank you. Most likely there is a mechanical cable that ties speedo and odometer, maybe the inner part is froze up
and using a lube frees it up
You need this anyway, so attached I give you the GM engineering design and specs for 1970 C3 as a 160-page PDF file
maybe something in there will help you or save this for future needs
Awesome. Thank youHere you go 170 pages of hot GM engineering design & spec info for the 1969 Corvette
Ok, so you still get miles but no trip. I guess I’ll need to get the instrument out and see if it can be dismantled. I haven’t looked on eBay etc but how difficult is it to get a complete assy? Sorry for the newbie questions but haven’t had to look after a stately classic before!!My trip meter is the only gauge not working.
I’m pretty sure one of the major Corvette specialists will have the bits you need ie Corvette central, Ecklers, Zip, paragon etc.Ok, so you still get miles but no trip. Indeed, things do stop working because they just get bunged up with dirt, dust etc.Seeing those, I would really before buying the whole gauge is taking it out and make sure the trip and odometer numbers turn easy
Forgot all about speedy cables, used them a couple of times when they were in Islington. They did the gauges in my 60 vet, made a marvellous job at a very reasonable price . Very local to me as well which was great. Then they moved to Welsh Wales and I think I used them once via post which was fine.Speedy Cables were always 'the' place to go to for gauge and odd ball cable replacement - initially in Marylebone for many year, then Islington and now Wales. Seem to offer 'programmable' Smiths speedo's for some cars - perhaps worth a call to see what they can do for Vette? Speedy Cables | Automotive Instrument Repair - Mechanical Cables
