Hi all, anyone dealt with or heard of a company, “Corvette auto parts for sale”?
Popped up on Fb . Didnt know if genuine or pos scam. They are quoting 700 dollars for LT 1 hood shipped to the uk. Does this seem dooable or too good to be true. ? It may just be a fb group that a scammer is watching and replied to my enquiry but it shows loads of parts and sounds like its a single business. Any thoughts appreciated, 👍

I'm a bit confused from the above. I've seen that "pop up" somewhere. Doesn't sound like the name of a company? Got a website? Got a Facebook link to put on here so that we can have a look?

Sounds too good to be true to me.
LT1 hoods usually run at $1000 + for a aftermarket one. Plus shipping and then import duty and VAT
The old saying I think applies here, if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
Hmm I had my suspicions

Just looked in the latest ZIP catalogue ( major corvette parts supplier) they have them listed for $899 stock item
Couple on eBay.com again new, little bit more expensive at 950 and 1100

Ask for a photo with something showing the date like a newspaper.
Just looked up his profile , if its a scam site they have put a load of work in, the amount of photos of all different parts is staggering. I think it is genuine but have a look and see what you guys think . Only suspicious thing is no mention of where they are based or phone number🤔IMG_8500.pngIMG_8499.pngIMG_8499.png

Seller doesn't even answer you fully - you ask "Do you have a 1972 LT1 or big block hood (original) how much shipped to the UK"
then a further question "Would cost to UK be prohibitive to ship. How much is a good original hood)"
Its a really simple question - but he doesn't answer those 'specifics'.
There will surely be a cost difference, possibly significant between an original OEM pressure moulded hood and an aftermarket 'laid-up' hood. So what would you be getting?

Personally I wouldn't buy anything via FB, unless it was payment on delivery.
He uses the word "Mate" a very English term, but prices quoted on dollars. Also the word "Auto" very USA, so sounds iffy to me. Just my personal opinion

100% a scammer. Avoid at all costs. A lot of these 'parts for sale'-type pages are. They all tend to follow the same playbook and have the same appearance, so they end up being easy to spot. Most of the images are just harvested straight from other reputable breakers/dealers.

As Nassau65 has said, over $1000 in the US before shipping & tax. Maybe order from a know source ,Ecklers etc & ship via Keith at Eurovettes? Can your existing one be repaired /modified?

So many USA sellers, both perhaps private and seemingly trade seem to have an aversion to answering specific questions. Typically you'll ask a question like "is that hood you are selling 'pressed' construction or 'laid-up' from matting". Not a difficult question is it? - and if they don't know you can always look (although TBH if you don't know the answer you are likely to be a 'chancer' or scammer)........no they will respond about something unconnected that you didn't even query!.
I'll ask the question once more......if they don't answer properly they are history re. ever buying anything from them.
