1970’s ? Custom C2

The craze with mid year corvettes during the custom scene seemed to do away with the turn round/over headlights for static units placed into the grill. Always thought this strange as the turn over headlights I thought were one of its best features and looked so modern. Even during the 1970’s

Of course once the new 1968 model came along, it was much easier to open up the headlights.
Never liked this practice myself, as always liked the pop up lights.

When my dad got married again in 1977, I wore the same three piece suite. My platform boots had 6inch heels and were brown/beige. I thought I looked the business.
three piece suite
Hope you didn't - would have been difficult getting through doorways I'd guess - now a three piece suit, double breasted with 12" wide lapels is a different matter.

Here’s a custom corvette I saw on a episode of minder recently. Very 70’s
Saw this car a few times in the flesh parked in Gt. Portland St. London W1. I believe the owner had a ladies clothes shop called Rich Bitch.
I thought even back then it was too overdone

I seem to recall our suite was brown velour also.
Don`t forget the chrome and smoke glass table trend too . That`s what I had in my first house . A bugger to keep clean !
Hey ma man , I also had a dark chocolate brown silk shirt to go with my pale biege three piece suite .

Loved watching Minder , some of my mates thought I looked a bit like Dennis Waterman and after I split from my first wife I was going out with a girl that looked a bit like Elkie Brooks so we used to have a right laugh about that .

1969 Manta Ray Concept

The 1965 Mako Shark II was sent back to the GM Design Studio for changes and was renamed the 1969 Manta Ray. William Mitchell, the head of GM Design Staff enjoyed deep sea fishing and had a profound love of nature.
While on a fishing excursion, Mitchell was inspired by the manta Ray powerfully moving through the ocean, which inspired the Corvette Mako Shark II/Manta Ray “Stingray” styling “Dream Cars”.
The Manta Ray sported more production realistic side pipes and twin rear-deck-mounted doors that popped up during hard braking to become reflective auxiliary brake lights.

Somebody had one of these ( a replica) in crouch end Hornsey N8 in the mid 70’s. It was a beautiful thing, and hardly ever moved from where it was parked in Mayfield Rd. then suddenly it went, never to be seen around Hornsey again.
I remember the beautiful Mako Shark badges on the front wings ( fenders)

Just looked at your picture. Yes, there is a resemblance to Dennis Waterman.
