Hello everyone, first off, it is brilliant now being a CCCUK member and owning my long awaited Stingray, I am going to need a lot of help with different things but first I would like to have a good sort out of the wiring in my vette, there are bits and pieces hanging down here and there so would anyone have a good suggestion of me sourcing understandable diagrams, the engine runs ok but needs a fuel flush and carb clean, brakes are not working although some new pipes and cables have been fitted, the car has come from Arizona to Kuwait and then to England in 96 then dry stored since, body front is looking sad but have plenty of GRP experience, chassis and bird cage are clean. Can't wait to get started, we have just done a 1200 mile trip to get her to Plymouth. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you all. Dave.

Hi there bud yeah i shall make my way out there this weekend and still can't believe I actually belong to this club, I have been collecting all of the equipment needed for a body off today, I beam, two chain blocks, hooks and wire strops, shackles, everything from Bogey Knights bar the new RSJ, just have to work out the center of balance and off with the body problems start.

If you are taking the body off then take loads of photos and I'd recommend you start a thread documenting everything you do. I regret not starting a renovation thread here until I was about to send my car off for paint. Having everything in one thread makes it easy to find if you want to look back later at what you did, or what advice or links other people gave you.
Here's how I lifted my body off, obviously the position of the centre of balance will depend on how much you remove from the body before you lift it.

Hi John, thanks for the tips and very good advice, as soon as you start seeing the gap when lifting, you are happy that you did it because you know right away areas that need addressing, from here your chassis look good with only surface rust, give you something to get stuck into and make better than when it was built, great picks, I have two 1/2 tonne chain blocks on a I beam, two 4x2 steels and spreader each side, very limited space and will be working underneath body, the two 4x2 steels then go on to four large 8mm thick brackets, overkill but I have to keep the boss happy as well

Ha Ha I kept the boss well away! I took the body off in May 2019 and the car didn't get back on the road until May 2021. The problem is you keep thinking I'll just do this while I'm at it. My chassis was/is very solid, but the birdcage was less so. What's with the tape on the windscreen? If it's cracked then at least you can get to see what's underneath it when you remove it. I accidentally cracked my screen, but I was very glad I did, otherwise I'd be driving around with a windscreen surround that had a big hole in it.

Yeah that wouldn’t be, no the screen is good it was taken out when the cage was repaired and not refitted, the car is solid so I thought the best place for the screen would be in place but didn’t want it to blow off on the 250mile trip down to Plymouth, I do like overkill😂😂😂

Transporter a company called ANYVAN these you do not want to use as they put the price up during the move, what started at £437 ended up £678. Very bad company and I am not able to get past the foreign telesales to complain

Hi Johng I have started stripping things away, doors front cone lights, have not got the I beam in place yet so decided to get started on the body bad bits, well 17 layers of paint and I am now down to manufacturers primer, it would appear that the original colour was Burgundy, have seen a newly painted one in that colour, it looked very nice but that's not going to be me, i am always going to the blue zone. I have been body restoring for many years and have seen some appalling bodges but this old boy has been abused badly, however it does give me the satisfaction knowing that one day it will be right and fitting for such a beautiful car, cannot post any pics as my PC keeps on saying windows does not support this, this has only happened since I got a new I phone 13 pro, so off into the phone shop tomorrow and get them to have a look, I have been taking a load of short videos and will get around to stitching them all together, hope you are well and the vette is behaving.
