Any Thoughts on this C3

I look forward to reading the official response to this one , especially as there seem to be more rogues than good guys out there ! Does "supporting " the CCCUK signify that a trader is a guaranteed good guy ??

Don't know who is making up the "rules" now, but I find this somewhat sinister.
Club Members are not allowed to warn others of "rogue" traders because we are a "good news only " club.
Now we are not allowed to recommend good traders because they don't "support" the CCCUK.

Not sure why you don’t understand the rules. It’s pretty simple. Club Members can warn members of the website about so called “rogue traders” so long as it’s done in a respectful way. As for “good traders” it is not the job of the club and the people who contribute to it to give freeloading traders looking for free publicity the space to leach off its resources. You should know more than anyone about the time of club supporter being wasted dealing with such issues.

The comment "Don't know who is making up the "rules" now, but I find this somewhat sinister" coming from a long served ex-committee member is a little surprising especially as this kind of issue is nothing new and has reared its head in previous years.
Historically we have seen various individual Corvette traders/specialists over the years who when asked by the CCCUK if they would like to help financially support the club have declined to do so. That is fine - its an individual choice whether or not to advertise. However it is not merely a coincidence that historically some of these quoted 'individuals' have been perfectly happy enough to 'feed -off' the business from CCCUK members looking for parts, cars or servicing for their cars following recommendations from members on our forum or by word of mouth - yet have not been prepared to 'reciprocate' with even the simplest paid-for advert in Vette News. So why should the CCCUK recommend these individuals? - they may 'support' a relatively small number of Corvette owners (who may or may not be CCCUK members) in their local area - but why should the CCCUK allow them to effectively receive 'free' advertising from us?

Don't know who is making up the "rules" now, but I find this somewhat sinister.......

We are both ex-committee members: you from about a year ago, and me from 4 days ago.

We both know that whilst the Committee roles can be very rewarding, there is also the occasional time when rules and protocol need to be introduced for the benefit of the Club and its Members.

You know full well that the Committee make these decisions so why would you imply otherwise? Also, please don’t cast dispersions on the Committee by suggesting something is "sinister".

However, you may be concerned that it is me who is taking action without reference. I am not. I am simply taking advice and guidance from the Committee because I am the main website administrator at the moment. No doubt this will be sorted in the next few days, but in the meantime this Committee has my full support and I will carry out their instructions implicitly and without question.

As Admin, I just wanted to apologise to Adam (Adtheman) who has only been a Member for a week or so, and who started this thread.

Adam - I am sorry that your request for advice degenerated into a bit of a bun fight. This happens from time to time (albeit rarely) so please don't read anything into it.

The comment from Curious Bystander above is utter rubbish. The Members of this Club will always assist new owners, so please keep those questions coming as we want to help you find a Corvette. It may be worth starting another thread and we will keep it on track.

Really sorry that this has been one of your first experinces of the CCCUK.

It is a shame that the "trader comments" issue was not dealt with a little less aggressively, with a polite reminder, as I tried to give, that any comments or opinions about traders, good, bad or indifferent, CCCUK supporter or not, should always be made via a PM. A simple policy, agreed years ago.

Wise words Stephen - however I have to tell you that initially certain 'comments' were in fact dealt with in a low key manner. Unfortunately you wouldn't have seen some of the earlier interaction that was removed.
