This is true, I always buy 2 pints of Larger one for each arm, back when I was young it was because I drank so fast, now it is because I am so old I can do without having to walk to the bar too often.
Thank god for the Wetherspoon App, this is also true, my grandson Luke who was 10 then now 11 years old watched me use the App once with him, Luke asked can I do that next time grandad and when I said yes Luke drank his j2o straight down and asked if he could have another j2o I had to laugh, I gave Luke my phone job done without any help from me, I did not think children were allowed to order alcoholic drinks, but in Wetherspoons they can so now when I fall asleep in the pub, that’s what old people like me do, Luke just puts my thumb on my phone job done (well maybe that bit is not true) thank god for me Luke never download the App to his phone.
I think you will all like Luke he is not to keen on the old noisy rattly TR
I did not in fact know Tom back then, Tom was just selling the Corvette year I was looking for.
I like your new Aston Martin DB5.
My brother and I had a company many years ago, back then he had a 73/74 Aston Martin V8 he told me later had been able to find another £500 he would have purchased the Aston Martin DB6, unfortunately he had to sell the Aston Martin so I really see can’t see the difference.
The 1980 Corvette cost £9000 the 73/74 Aston Martin V8 £7000 they were both purchased roughly at the same, now for the bad news you would be lucky to double your money with the 1980 Corvette but 25 times more for the Aston Martin V8 as for an Aston Martin DB6 80 times more, I think I went for the wrong car.

So what quite regularly and more often than not, did these two Vehicles share in common manufacture?

Yes went to Klassix many times. It was at the start of Speedway on the same side as Daytona raceway. I managed to get hold of a vhs video player the other day and watched a video I made there from 1996. The cinema there where the seats were C4 rear bumpers with taillights lit up. There were some important cars in there with delivery mileage.
Hi Daytona Vette I vaguely recall a visit by the CCCUK to Aston Martin Newport Pagnell, considering the link with my brother I am surprised we did not go together, or at least me. Any photos.
As for the Quizicle, I have only just got out of bed, been watching all the doom and gloom on TV, the answer does not jump out at me straight away, so I am going to make a cup of coffee first, I have the odd thought, but I think I will put on my thinking cap first.
I can see it being some obscure part. Aston Martin produced so few cars a week they bought in a lot of parts.

Again what a coincidence, when I turned of the computer last night and jumped in the bath, unlike a lot of my Corvette photos this was a holiday so I knew the year was 1996 so I thought when I turned the computer back on I would add the year to the post just for reference.
I am sure you will agree the museum was amazing, you have to hand it the Americans they know how to put on a show.

So that must mean my copy is worth even less now.

Or two dustbin lids? You are right Ross. System was installed in car in US before coming to the UK, as was the 1/2 brick size in-car phone. Not many of those about in 1989, but very handy if you needed to make some quick deals on "pork belly futures"?
Suspect the idea originally was to attend some "Turn/Crank it up" meets, where you parked the car, opened the back, top and doors, and see who has the loudest stereo? Just looking at YouTube, see that some (young?) people (not too many I suspect) still like a custom system in their C7. Have to admire the workmanship and ingenuity though?

A few years ago we use to have an AH turn-up regularly in a heavily 'ICE'd turdbown Honda Accord at a local car 'gatherings'. You'll all understand the type of car - you'll know and recognise, one of those with looks like a full scale version of a Dinky toy sitting on a set of cotton reels and usually the one that eventually gets everyone banned from car meetings and cruises.
Amongst all of the Yanky V8's, Rod's and some genuinely marginally street 'legal' drag racer vehicles this character would over the course of the evening proceed to open all his windows, doors and boot (which was crammed full of amps. pre-amps, cross-overs and sub-woofers) and crank the volume of the then en-vouge Rap Crap or other getto inspired musical shizen to everyone who wanted (or didn't want to) hear it.
Reverse baseball cap wearing AH got really upset and 'threw toys out of pram' (and never to turn-up again) when after several meetings most of us were seriously upset by this extreme audible assault of our aural senses every time he turned on his 'vibes'. Eventually any of us who had driven there in noisy V8 powered vehicle would start respective vehicles-up and rev them continually, drowning-out previously mentioned AH's cranked-up 'music'. You should know this location Funchi - it was the weekly meet at the Dick Turpin Basildon.

well this was mine up until the repaint and re-trim Sept 2017
Notice the Graphic Equiizer fitting where the ashtray should be, the depth of the unit was about 150mm, so had to cut a 150mm x 40mm slice out of the Gearbox to fit it in
I wanted to keep the system when I had the re-trim, because I loved it with the Graphic Equilizer (Pioneer Kex 23 system about 1k in 83 with the amps, when the previous owner put it in, the phone install was me) but the Pioneer sound had deteriorated and you could now buy a system from Halfords for £26.99 that now sounded better.
So the system is in a box and all new Pioneer system fitted with integral Graphic Equilizer and Blue Tooth and amp vertical fixed behind the passenger seat, plus I did not want to make the cut in the new 5 Speed.

Nice/neat install there Barry. Momo (Nero - leather & alcantara) steering wheel looked good on my C4 too. On mine, the Alpine head unit (radio & CD) was mounted flush in the centre of the dash where the radio would have been with the equaliser above it. In the back, the speakers sat in a (partitioned inside) box that filled the whole trunk as you can. Main (700w) amp accesable in the front of the box, and another 70w amp, and another tuner of some sort inside the box. But you're right, that's 1980's technology/sound quality.

'Back in the day' - 1988 (possibly '87 when everyone was doing so well and moving up-market with the continual inflation of house prices) I had just been 'pouched' by a small competitor from the specialist lighting manufacturer I been employed by for a number of years. "Choose any company car you like - as long as it's the same price to contract hire as a 'L' spec' Ford Sierra" - first choice of Renault 5 Turbo was instantly rejected by insurers. 2nd choice was a Peugeot 205GTI. I really enjoyed this for 3 years as a fun daily driver all over London, East Anglia and the South East (still had my 71' 429 SCJ Mach 1 Mustang in garage back then). When the then new and legalised 'mobile' and car phones were marketed I had a Phillips 20 channel installed in the car (remember they were analogue back then and this cost £1100 including installation!). The 'power and transmitter' unit was the size of an attache case and took up virtually the whole underside of the rear hatchback flip-up cover - and it was heavy. Great thing to have for about 6-9 months until 'everybody' started to get one.......then 20 channels became insufficient and you couldn't 'get-out' to make or receive phone calls.
