Capt - it would be interesting to get your car on a rolling road to see actually how much power its potentially lost over the last 50 or so years......
I already have - and stated it above in this post. It was around 180ish hp fly when I put it on the rolling road originally, then got it tuned up and it was about 250hp fly - the timing and carb jets etc were all wrong causing it to overfuel amongst other things. Can't remember the before torque, but after the tune up it was 300lbs/ft. Granted that was a couple of years ago I did that though (2020) - was a massive change in how it performed after the tune up as it really sucked beforehand. Not made any changes to it since then, except the phenolic insulator gasket under the carb as I was getting bad fuel percolation. The plan ultimately is to go to an American vehicle specialist not too far away from me and let them suggest upgrades and tweaks and so forth. But like I said, time and more importantly - money. And as sacrilege as it is to say - upgrading my Vette currently isn't top of my expenses or time at the moment (DIY projects etc etc). Hopefully next year.

Team ZR1 has really got me thinking now..........and 5 and 6 speed transmissions - I had been looking for some years to source a period Hone-o-Drive unit from the 'States, They were a mechanically activated overdrive unit typically used during the late 60's and early 70's on various vehicles like light trucks, RV's and oddities like Jeeps and things. Baldwin Motion used them on their Camaro's and I believe a few Vettes from the period. From what I've seen its a very difficult installation taking-up much of the space between the back of the gearbox and front of the rear axle. Quite rare now and expensive. The logical thing would be a 5 speed or (better still) 6 speed double overdrive Tremec transmission.........not very cheap for the complet kit!

I took your '68 as I have been running through the simulator in other testcases and swapped your 4 speed with the Richmond 5 speed that is pretty tough tranny and used back in those days
