Blockpower

I've just fixed my 1980 clock. It was a little odd to be honest. After stripping lubing cleaning contacts etc applying power to it did nothing.
I had an earth on the plate, 12v at the positive. I traced the 12v feed to the coil and to the contracts. Contacts closed showed a12v circuit passed on the switched side when closed but the clock didn't energise.
So I put it back in the car thinking I'll get a new one sorted.
To my amazement the clock worked and continued to work. How very strange.
I can't think why having had a positive feed on the contacts so the earth was obviously good.
Anyway happy days..
