Or really prevent car from being driven away of GM vehicles back to the mid 1990s

If I have to go out of town for a time to prevent someone using electronics to fool the security and VATS
Takes 5 minute to flash a No drive tune in that is set to allow no speed in MPH greater than zero

PCMs in Corvettes are buried, so a crook cannot easily get to them and would have to jack the car up to even get to where the PCM is hidden
To be able to swap the PCM and also could lock the PCM so they cannot change the tune

Come home, 5 minutes time and flash the normal tune back in

A ghost is effectively an immobiliser that has an unique set of button presses within the vehicle to switch it off everyone is custom programmed rather than it being a dealer set option of a handful of button presses
Thanks for that, I was being lazy. Just looked at their website:

It would be interesting to know how many corvettes are stolen each year. Can’t see many older ones being stolen? C6’s 7’s and 8’s mainly me thinks.

I have a ghost fitted to my Stinger as have many other owners. I can't see how it could be compromised by thieves. I have read that if thieves can access the OBD2 port they can steal a car with a standard system. OBD2 locks are available. Faraday pouches are inexpensive and are an absolute must regardless of what alarm or immobiliser is fitted.

In the last 30 plus years, which model year of Corvette has been reported stolen more than any other in the USA alone ?
If you answered the 1984 Corvette, then give yourself a hand.

The National Insurance Crime Bureau has looked thefts of Corvettes from 1981-2011 and issued their report to the insurance industry.
Over the last 30 years, 90,427 Corvettes were reported stolen in the United States and Puerto Rico with the 1984 model year leading the way with 8,554 thefts.

The NICB’s report tallied thefts of Corvettes that spanned across the 6 generations of the sports car’s 58 years, from the 1953 Corvette through the 2011 models.
A total of 134,731 Corvettes were identified as stolen in the period, with 1,526,747 total Corvettes produced during the car’s production lifecycle.

Because the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration standardized the Vehicle Identification numbers in 1981, the NCIB disclaims the pre-1981 reports ?due to the due to the inconsistency in reporting protocols and VIN systems?.
Consequently, only 1981 and later data were used to produce this report, of which 90,427 Corvettes were reported stolen.

The most popular Corvette among thieves was also the most popular among consumers as well.
During the extended production run of the 1984 Corvette, which saw the introduction of the new C4 generation, a total of 51,547 Corvettes were produced.
Thefts of the 84 Vette totaled 8,554 which makes up 9.4% of the total thefts reported.
According to the report, nearly 17% of all 1984 Corvettes were reported stolen.

The top ten model years stolen account for 55,132 or 61% of thefts between 1981-2011.

The report also delves into geographical locations with California leading the way for Corvette thefts with 14,002 reports or a little over 15%.
The top 10 states for Corvette thefts total 63,409 or about 70% of the total.

Anybody remember the old “ crook lock from the 1970’s.“. 😂
I had one in my old 205 GTi up until it got driven into by a lorry around 2009/2010. I think it was still with the car, and I didn't get it back.

Completely pointless, as it was the type that went between handbrake and gearstick. If you know the 205 GTi, then you know it has a gear knob that can be unscrewed, thus defeating the device. Still, I was given it and it made for a nice visual deterrent.

I remember my parents using the ones that went between the pedal and steering wheel. I had one of those for a while too, but it broke or I lost the key.
