Differences between 75-76?

Good morning guys. I was just watching some corvette videos and was wondering the differences of these 2 years because I'm guessing it's under the hood as I cannot see any differences like different emblems or interior changes. Thank you.

You are quite correct James, it’s all under the hood.
Unfortunately 1975 was the lowest point for corvette horsepower. Even tho it was still a nice car and quite responsive to the throttle, just not the fire breathing monster it’s predecessors were.
1976 horsepower was increased somewhat to about 185 horsepower.

@Nassau65 Thank you. I'm using the train at the moment because I don't want to buy another boring car like my vw polo it just kills me inside. Waiting for the right stingray so being patient.

Yes, OK so a '75 is ultimate 'lopo' Vette and '76 is a minor 'step-up' ........irrespective of later C3's being fractionally higher in hp terms the only way they will become 'hipo' is by adding some aftermarket parts........nothing wrong with that......a more 'civilised' C3 in comfort and driving terms......with the option of adding some 'get-up-and go' if you want.....and even better.....less expensive than an early C3 to purchase......win-win I'd say James!

I owned both a '75 and '77 at the same time
I was dumb and young back then so means I was married and got the 77 as it was an auto tranny (only one of 12 vettes I had that had no clutch)
as the wife sucked, using a clutch and shifting at the same time :)

They both were real smog pigs and '77 was very boring to drive and not great in doing like auto crosses
Took money to get the '75 to wake up and be a racer

A base L48 Corvette will still keep up with every other car where I am in the north London suburbs. Will pull away with that lovely V8 burble and will cruise at ease at 80mph on the M25. What’s not to like about that ?

Traveling in the UK on our over priced , over crowded and unreliable train services would kill me a whole lot more !!

The last time I took a train and then the tube it was bloody horrible. OK, I did get a seat as Enfield town is the start of the line. By the time it arrived at Seven Sisters it was packed. Fortunately herds of people got out at Seven Sisters because it’s a change for the tubes Victoria line. On we went to Liverpool Street. Then the most crowded tube, the central line to Chancery Lane. Bloody horrible journey, and I had the same thing to look forward to going home. 🙁

Guess I'm really fortunate regarding rail/tube travel into London. End of the line District Line tube is relatively close by. Southend-on- Sea to London Fenchurch Street rail stops at the same station. We also have a branch connection, just a couple of stops from an Elizabeth Line station which goes in to London (from East Anglia) and beyond. There are connection to Docklands Light Railway too.....so we are very well covered......and being the terminus for some of the lines you'll generally get a seat going in to the smoke. Trick is to avoid am/pm rush hours and late evening drunks and druggies returning from London.

Externally the 75 and 76 are virtually identical but there is one easy way to tell them apart - the 76 doesn't have the vent grilles on the deck behind the rear window.

Inside the steering wheel was changed from the classic three aluminium spoke one to a four spoke (plastic) steering wheel.

Yea the 75 was the lowest powered from the factory but most of them have long since had the smog bits taken off, cats removed etc and will still pull pretty well without major changes - a reasonable amount of torque was still there. If performance interests you then I can assure you a 75 can be modified to go very well.

Because we in the UK have always described engine size by cubic capacity CC a badge on a yank that says 454 or 350 etc is presumed to have. 4.5 litre or 3.5lite engine.
I once had a race with a police rover 3500s in my 428 Shelby. Anyway I well dragged them to the next lights. The police driver said my car was fast for a 4.2. I explained it was in cubic inches and that it was 7 litres. He smiled and we went our separate ways. Those were the days. Fond memories

I was on holiday in Italy two weeks ago . Stayed in Pompeii which has three stations that cover different routes for such a relatively small town . The main line along the coast runs up to Naples and beyond . Modern spacious trains , frequent service and sooooooooo cheap ! A 30 mile round trip cost 3 Euros 50 cents . Beet that !!! We traveled up to visit the Italian National Railway Museum where admission was just 5 Euros and then a discount because we arrived by train . This country needs to learn a lot about public transport .
