Differences between 75-76?

When 'non' American car 'enthusiasts' sometimes ask me about mine - and its 427 cu in origins I'll explain that its now 489 cu in (due to its 'stroker' rotating assembly) - generally they'll then ask what does that mean in 'English' - and you know they are disbelieving you when tell them 427 cu in is 7000 cc (not 4.2 ltr) and that 489 is 8000 cc (not 4.8 ltr)......its really quite amusing......they being too polite perhaps not wanting to call you a liar.........

On the subject of hoods, decals and numbers etc - last year I removed the 427 numbers from the stock hood (stored away), 'in-filled' them with red paint (rather than OEM black) and carefully fitted them to the aftermarket L88 style hood I have been using for a quite a few years now1692189019565.jpg. The L88 hoods didn't feature the chrome faux vents seen on LT1/427/454 hoods - well mine does now (although it doesn't quite fit) think it 'dresses-up' the hood a bit better.

Guess I'm really fortunate regarding rail/tube travel into London. End of the line District Line tube is relatively close by. Southend-on- Sea to London Fenchurch Street rail stops at the same station. We also have a branch connection, just a couple of stops from an Elizabeth Line station which goes in to London (from East Anglia) and beyond. There are connection to Docklands Light Railway too.....so we are very well covered......and being the terminus for some of the lines you'll generally get a seat going in to the smoke. Trick is to avoid am/pm rush hours and late evening drunks and druggies returning from London.
This is the way to travel from Fenchurch Street to Sarf End Ross ! I was on the footplate working regular shuttle services back and forth on the May bank Holiday weekend of 1999 . Two round trips a day shared with sister loco 80089 . Huge fun as quite a challenging line in places and we had to keep time in between the electrified 80079 Fenchurch Street.jpg80079 at Southend.jpg suburban services so it called for some brisk running . :D . 80079 worked that line in the 1950`s and Tommy Steel the rock n roller was a young fireman in it before he made the big time . The photos are us waiting to leave Fenchurch Street and then approaching Sarf End . Guest appearance of my arm sticking out the cab .

I could see myself on that train, a nice leisurely trip to sarf end, a great time in the kursal and a bowl of jellied eels with a bit of stale bread. Lovely.

Skip the eels', ice creams for me, spending a few pennies in the slot machines on the front, Peter Pans playground driving the little motor cars on the track and piloting the motor boats and the half size Golden Hind.........the all the way back to the Kersal for the big boy stuff, so Krazy House, Cake Walk and so on.......

We `ad some real Gawd Blimey characters come to see us arrive at Sarf End station . They were ex British Railways steam loco men from Plaistow where the loco depot was . They were in tears of nostalgia . Unfortunately some `orrible geezer snuck into our Support Coach ( not open to public passengers) at Sarf End and nicked my SLR camera which had shots I had taken on the footplate . Really pi***d me off as they were once in a life time moments as we had worked the train all the way to the `Smoke` from Leicester via the iconic Harringworth Viaduct the day before .

Why do people dislike the stock rally rims? I think they look smart. Keep hearing this in youtube car reviews and comment sections.
From what I read on many different vette groups and forums , the general consensus and one I wholeheartedly agree with , is that there is actually no better looking wheel on a c3 vette than a capped and trimmed Rally . THE END ! 👍🤣

Good morning guys. I was just watching some corvette videos and was wondering the differences of these 2 years because I'm guessing it's under the hood as I cannot see any differences like different emblems or interior changes. Thank you.
Differences not mentioned in the replies:-
-Steel floors in 1976, so another area of potential rot
- 76 does not have cowl induction cold air intake but has a forward ducting
- rear Corvette lettering sloped on 76.

The 76 also has the one year only steering wheel taken from the Chevrolet Vega. Corvettes previously had their own nice steering wheel and then bam gone . It didn’t go down very well with the corvette guys but that didn’t put people off as sales topped 45k unitsIMG_2085.jpeg

I remember 'back in the day' reading the Yank magazines and Vetteheads were really uphappy about any 'connection' with GM's 'lame duck' (well, thats what most 'septics' regarded the Vega with its 4 banger engine as) - is there more than just a passing resemblance to the German designed Mark 1 Cavalier.....?

Too much sophistication for most US garages , bit like Jaguars V12. Any problems just pull it out and stick a 350 in it. Had a few series 3 E-types with that conversion, couple of Bentley/Rolls as well.

Makes one wonder......had GM used the UK Vauxhall OHC 2.3 slant 4 perhaps the car would have worked-out better - perhaps latching-on to Lotus's twin cam lump used later in their own vehicles and the Jensen Healey........which had a similar configuration to both the Vauxhall engine used in early feasibity tests and later Cosworth built Vega Twin Cam engine.......too many similarities to be co-incidental engine development perhaps.........hard to believe that Lotus made such a good job of designing the ZR1 engine.......perhaps good because they didn't actually build the engine (Mercury Marine)
