Hi Steven,

Shes an 1989. Sold through Kelly Hollywood Chevrolet dealer in Miami Florida. Still got the Miami Ventura Boulevard Parking pass in the window.

I love the (hand drawn) drawings in your workshop manual.- i think they are just great. I used the images you posted today to get the torques right so thank you so much. I have made contact with so many lovely super people though this car.

She's going for an MOT next Wednesday. There's still a slight slight movement, in the back wheel but ive got a rubber for the rear dog bone member (which is the next thing to try for that.)

Is that a greenwood body kit ?
My one is an 86 so the torque settings should be the same.
I will keep a look out for an 89 shop manual.

Yes- its a greenwood bodykit factory fitted from new. Tom at Claremont corvette (who generously donated bolts when i broke some) says he has the same bodykit set for sale on his website. would look good on your red car!

Back in the late 1980s I worked for GM engineering, so used to swap new Corvettes about every 1 to 2 years

Cannot recall if it was 1987 or 1989 was the first year of the ZF MN6 6 speed manual
I did not have the car 1 month and was drag racing and broke second gear in half :-(
GM was not too happy with me as they had marketed the ZF as a rock crusher

My favourite car is the Vector W8. They shoulda used that GM 6 speed gearbox in it, instead of that crazy 3 speed auto slush box thingy!

GM should have promoted you for being their most dedicated test driver.

Yea, I was in the dog house for a bit with GM engineering
Second gear had broken in 2 pieces, but that helped ZF in making a design change

The race event I was doing at Texas Motorplex drag strip, hot weather

They made it so you staged at the tree, crossed the traps and then used the cool down distance after that
and made a U turn, raced back to the tree and then made a sharp U turn around the tree and back down the track
I downshifted to second when doing the tree U turn and that is when second gear exploded :-(

Did any of the drag racers run on alcahol? Can you run an L98 on alcahol? I like the thought of water and flower perfume coming out the exhaust pipe.
