Heater ducts

Whilst still waiting to get my car back from the sprayer, I took a look this afternoon at what is involved in re-fitting my instrument panel. My AIM shows a cut out in both heater ducts and what looks like some form of clip where they attach to the air vent. I don't have either of these, is this normal? If there is no clip what holds the duct in place?





Also are these holes meant to be there?

Mine just stay in place due to the fact that they are jammed in. No sign of clips. Mine have holes from what I remember. No sign of seals as I note from your diagram. Probably why my car has so many rattles and squeaks

Yep, no clips on my 71. The ducts just seem to locate on pins via the factory drilled holes, you wouldn't be able to get any clips on internally once installed, zip ties over the ends might stop them rattling around and falling off.

There are no clips holding in the ducts, just push fit

Thanks everyone, looks like it is just a push fit then. I'll see how that works when I eventually get my car back.
