High Zinc Fully Synthetic Oil?

.........a couple of years ago I had a oil pump drive shaft fracture causing total loss of oil pressure. Probably drove the car for a mile or so before realising and another mile or so before finding somewhere to pull-over. No lasting damage to engine - oil used was Valvoline VR1 Racing.........
That was quite incredible how the engine survived that Ross. Just think how many engine revolutions that distance would equate to, with no oil circulating. If that was down to the quality of Valvoline then it's another testament.

VR1 in my (recently built) motor too btw.

At least Valvoline VR1 racing oil states the ZDDP content so it wins every time for me . (y)
Morning, chuffer, just come off the phone from opies and no further forward, he swears the fuchs has 12/1400 ppm of zinc but it is not stated anywhere on data sheets, just verbally from the oil company, 😣 i am not prepared to put that in my engine without confimation, past the 60 day exchange so need to but more oil.
I was under the impression that maybe a 5/30 synthetic would get up the top end quicker than a 20/50 mineral so was looking for a synthetic but with zinc ( any suggestions welcome) failing that I would rather go 20/50 mineral With Zinc that you have used for years with no probs. Seems a strange approach from an oil company not to advertise that a certain oil has zinc as surely that would be a good selling point and give customers peace of mind . Very frustrating 😩

Valvoline VR1 for me and nothing else, synthetic oils are for the more modern engine where the tolerances are tighter and the measurements of the tangential sheer stress of the oil required are generally lower.

But Valvoline VR1 is a mineral oil - do you not mean synthetics are more suitable for modern engines?

G`day Mad4 , if Opies cannot back up the claim with a data sheet for Fuchs Oil , walk away . You don`t want your engine Fuch`d do you ? There is sufficient evidence from luninaries like Ross and the other guys posts to substantiate what I have been saying , that Valvoline VR1 Racing Oil is the way to go .

If you really want to go in to the whole ZDDP thing perhaps visit the CF forum where there are pages and pages of information on the subject - plus, importantly test results on the various oils available in the USA. A number of these can be obtained in the UK.

Thanks all, I will be asking opie oils to exchange for valvoline vr 1 even tho it is outside the sixty day exchange scheme as they sold it to me as having zinc at correct levels but cant now or wont substantiate theis in writing👍

Penrite make high zinc oils. Based in Oxfordshire.
Hadn't heard of Penrite previously (Australian) - their website mentions that their Classic Oils have Zinc protection and interestingly (given the earier question on this thread) they have a similarly treated synthetic oil. Unfortunately they don't mention the specific ppm content od thir classic oils - except for their 10 Tenths Racing Oil (which is shown as 2200 ppm). Being very specifically a 'racing' oil I'm guessing its designed for very limited single day usage - if someone cares to research ZDDP content 2200 ppm is possibly too much for regular daily use.

I tend to agree with you Ross about limited use of 2200 ppm but haven`t researched it yet . I know some racing oils are 500 mile oil change limits . Going back to the Valvoline VR1 20/50 Racing Oil , I get mine through Amazon UK . Was about £50 for 5 litres last time .

I got mine from Ebay just last week - was £31.50 including postage for the 5 litre can.
