Hydraulic clutch actuator upgrade question.

Hi, I've a 4 speed manual 1980. Whilst the clutch pedal pedal is ok for us big burly guys my wife finds it heavy.

Has anybody got experience with converting to hydraulic and does it make the pedal lighter?

I can’t comment on hydraulic vs mechanical but you can use a servo with hydraulic clutches.

A change of clutch can mean a lighter touch. I installed a Centerforce dual friction unit in attempt to handle the HP/TQ of my big block Vette. Surprisngly the pedal weight was a little lighter than the stock unit I replaced. Perhaps try the pedal weight of a C6 Z06 my experience is that it was lighter than a standard C6.
If you want to convert over to hydraulic clutch actuation you may swap weight of action for increased pedal movement?

I agree, good idea

Changing the type of clutch pressure plate makes a difference in how much leg pressure is needed
Diaphragm type is about half the pressure needed for operation vs the 3 fingers type

Pedal effort is lowest when released, and increases during clutch dis-engagement with a "3-finger" style
The diaphragm's pedal effort is highest when released, and decreases during clutch dis-engagement.
