Ian Allan customers are receiving emails which have stated that they are closing in all aspects of their dealership, not just with G.M.

Thanks, I missed that. What a shame ,especially as they are close to me. Ive sold my c7 but still hanker after something vette related. Can’t be driving hundreds of miles to get a service etc if I do make another corvette leap.

As mentioned elsewhere, looks like there will be one or two (or more?) new GM authorised Vette dealers/service & repair outfits in the south of England? Ian Goss/IGS American in Surbiton (close to you) is servicing C8s:

I notice the UK Chevrolet website only lists Ian Allan and Parts USA as authorised dealers. No mention of Manchester Arnold Clark, for example. Are they not authorised despite selling the cars now? Very confusing...

Sounds like the 'new' supposedly re-organised GM being much like GM as they always have been.....(certainly with regard to important media information)

I suppose they will get around to updating their UK website in due course. 😂
Certainly the new dealerships will want to be in/on it.

You'd think that UK based GM sales and marketing people, (presuming there are any)......whom in any commercial environment are 'incentivised' re. no's of product' sold would be on that rather embarrassing omission like a ton of bricks?

I asked this on my visit to the Altrincham branch. It'll be Arnold Clark Salford that provides service so currently gearing up to do it and have their mechanics trained but in his words, they were being slowed down/held back by GM

Probably not the same nowadays, but back in the 70’s and 80’s the mechanics at Lendrum & Hartman were sent to Detroit for training on the various models specialities. They were usually out there for a couple of weeks at a time. Got all their GM certificates to proudly display.
Of course then most Embassies used American cars mainly Cadillac models so they were very busy on that side.

GM’s Corvette has announced partnerships with two UK franchise dealer groups, as the US sports car brand prepares to launch further right-hand drive models.

The Chevrolet-owned outfit is to be represented by Car Dealer Top 100 table topper, Arnold Clark, as well as Greenhous Group’s premium sub-brand, Lumen Automotive.
Arnold Clark will be the exclusive dealer for Corvette in Scotland, as well as covering the north of England with sites in Glasgow and Altrincham.

The Glaswegian operation will be based at a purpose-built site in Hillington, close to the dealer group’s head office,
while an existing Altrincham site will be remodelled to accommodate the brand.

Meanwhile, Lumen Automotive will represent the Corvette from its home in the Shrewsbury.
Callum Rankin, Arnold Clark brand director, said:
‘We are delighted to welcome Corvette to the Arnold Clark family; there is nothing else quite like this in our current lineup.

‘There’s incredible demand for these award-winning cars in the UK, and we’re delighted to provide customers with an easy way to purchase and the opportunity to test-drive and see new models up close.

‘We hope this is the beginning of a long and prosperous relationship, and we can’t wait to share these incredible models.’
Arnold Clark leads Car Dealer Top 100 as most profitable car dealer group in the UK
Ashley Passant, managing director of Greenhous Group, added: ‘We are thrilled to welcome the Corvette to our prestigious portfolio of brands.

‘With its rich legacy of innovation and performance, the Corvette is a great match for us and our customers.
We’re proud to represent this globally iconic marque and bring its extraordinary driving experience to the UK.’

Filippo Caracciolo, Corvette, European distribution manager said the latest announcements marked a ‘defining moment’ for Corvette.
He said: ‘Bringing the C8 Corvette Stingray and Z06 in a right-hand drive configuration to the UK is a defining moment for the brand.
‘As a global icon of performance and innovation, the Corvette represents the pinnacle of automotive excellence.

‘Our affiliation with Lumen Automotive will offer a seamless entry into the UK market, and we’re excited to deliver the Corvette’s unparalleled engineering and exhilarating driving experience to British enthusiasts and collectors.’

‘The Corvette represents the pinnacle of American performance and design, blending thrilling power, advanced technology, and a heritage that’s unmatched,’ he added.

‘We are thrilled to work with Arnold Clark, known for their automotive expertise and service, to share the unmistakable Corvette experience with UK enthusiasts who appreciate bold, distinctive, and exhilarating driving.’

Corvette will launch its new C8 Stingray and C8 Z06 in January. More new additions are then expected deeper into 2025.

If Europe was really interested in having GM support Corvette, they need to seriously do their part and sell a lot more Corvettes

UK History reminder :

UK in 2019 did no favors as to being able for GM to sell Corvette, Camaro and some caddies

New emissions legislation coming into force will mean Chevrolet’s Corvette and Chevrolet Camaro can no longer be sold new in the UK.

UK-bound variants of these two models are powered by Chevrolet’s 6.2-litre V8, which falls foul of newly imposed WLTP regulations and will no longer be eligible for import as of 31 August.

The Camaro and Corvette are currently only sold new in the UK by Surrey-based Ian Allan Motors, which has 40 examples left to sell ahead of the August deadline. Any not sold by this point will have to be registered and sold as pre-owned cars.

While it is no longer possible to order these cars to the UK direct from the factory, Chevrolet has continued to produce them for the market with MPH markings on their speedometers and UK-spec headlights.

The mid-engined C8-generation Corvette will be revealed on 18 July, powered by an evolved version of the current C7 model’s pushrod engine, but the model won’t make its return to the UK until early 2021 - most likely in hybrid form.

It has not yet been confirmed that the new model will be adapted for right-hand drive markets, but new laws in Australia, Japan and India now prohibit the importing of left-hand-drive cars, making the case for a right-hand-drive variant much stronger.

The new regulation also affects Cadillacs Escalade SUV, which is powered by the same 6.2-litre engine
. A new model will arrive in Europe in 2020, although a spokesman for Ian Allan Motors said the Escalade is less popular in the UK than the two Chevrolet sports cars, given their iconic status.

A 'defining moment' it may well be for Filippo Caracciolo, (Corvette European Distribution Manager) in 'bringing' the RHD C8 Corvette Stingray and Z06 to the UK.
I do hope we're not going to see the marque lanquish in the blind alleys of GM's corporate systems (as we've seen historically).
Surely just two dealers, one for Scotland and the North of England and one other in Shrewsbury (half way between Birmingham and Manchester is a much an oversight as IAM based at Virgina Waters was for 'covering' the whole UK. Really can't imagine too many prospective C8 owners making the 200 mile or trip from the South Coast to visit the 'nearest' Corvette dealer! - or do GM believe that all future sales will be generated in these areas?

That’s what they have always said.

The dealership thing hasn’t been thought out properly re the locations. Only time will tell if this turns out to be another “flop” of trying to sell new US cars in the UK.

We'll see. Don't agree with Ross though. If you're happy to spend 100k plus a 200 mile trip is a nice day out
