I do think personally it would people off buying a car knowing it’s a say 200 mile each way trip to get it serviced.

I accepted it would be 60 miles each way for me. But that was about the threshold limit for me.

The other (pricey option) is to have the car trailered there and back. I did pay to get my car trailered to get detailed close to me when new. But that is not ideal to use for all visits.

I will say I have only have had 1 warranty claim in 3 years, so thankfully it has mostly only been back for servicing.

I think time is a valuable commodity, and many people I know that own expensive and fun cars have to work hard to do so. So wasting a whole day for a car service isn't ideal if you can avoid it.

For comparison, I go to Ian Allan early, drop the car, either do some work in their place or at a nearby coffee shop, they are typically late finishing, then I drive it home in traffic.

For my GR Yaris (while I had it), I paid £15 extra for the dealer to come pick up the car, they do the service, they drop it back home to me.

The dealmaker for you in the UK area is

There and counting many fixes for all years and models for the C8
Most is dealt with software updates to the 30 plus controllers
Here in the USA it is not a big deal as the C8 was designed for TSB updates done via Over The AIR (OTA)
that can be done at any time, even at the owners home
To do that, you'll need the GM wireless system functional in the UK and in most cases via OnStar network

If not having that, would require drive to your dealer (if they have this ?) and do the updates/fixes there :(
Ask your selling dealer how OTAs will be handled and again there is a ton of fixes via TSBs and new ones every week
and what will e required to get software updates done (even 2020 MY still need updates) and that is for all the controllers the C8 has
