The first thought that sprang to mind was, "Nice cars, but who's cleaning up the oil leaks on the pavers?". LOL. And there will be oil leaks.

Is this a "nice, or what", or is this an "Oops"? Actually, it's both.

A La Carrera Panamericana original race car. This wild run across Mexico was held from 1950 through 1954. (Operated in the spirit of the Mille Miglia and Targa Florio in Italy). Who says the early Corvettes weren't racers?


A modern day replica of the above '54 Corvette.




Unfortunately, the replica met with some difficulties during a modern-era revival race.



Ouch. That'll take more than a buff-out.

Why was 1954 the final year of the original run of this event? Seven people were killed that year; four competitors, two spectators, and one team crew member.
