The comparison between the 79 Z28 & Trans Am is excellent.
Look at those sales for 79 84k Z28’s alone. 117k Trans Am’s. that’s without all the other F- body models.
GM would love those figures nowadays for a single trim model.
I think one year Chevrolet sold upwards of 600k caprice models.

I know that’s the original Bandit front on the T/A, but I’ve always preferred the 79 front end.
Apparently James Garner aka Jim Rockford Hated the 79 front end, and had the 78 design put onto new 79 cars for the show.

How times have changed, back when new, cuda’s and Challengers were at the bottom of the muscle car/pony car pile. Now they are at the top. Just like the old saying when your at the bottom there’s only one way to go. Up.
