Thanks. As you know, there are a number of clues as to the existence of a L88 in this car.
- of course the hood, and the accompanying unusual base plate, foam circle, screen, cage and cap over the 850cfm carb
- the absence of a fan shroud
- an aluminum rad, rather than the copper used in all other big-blocks
- the road draft tube (rather than a PCV) on the left intake manifold
- the coolant overflow tank inside the right fender
- the absence of any radio interference suppression pieces (around distributor and ignition wires)
- the aluminum intake manifold (the 390hp single 4bbl was cast iron; the 400hp and 435hp were 3x2bbl carbs)
- the aluminum heads (in 1967) were painted Chevy orange, but in later years were left uncoated
