Mid-engine C8 delayed

As a 52+ year-owner of my Corvette, permit this old-timer an intervention on the topic of mid-engine Corvettes. Sadly, General Motors has been teasing us with tales of a mid-engine car since the late 1960s. That's a very long time, no? One could imagine that they may have been able to get their act together by now. Designers and engineers have been born, lived and died during this time. Whole careers have been carried out...and still no ME.

The July 1975 issue of Motor Trend magazine offers this tantalizing look at the exciting new Corvette...coming soon????

There were much earlier guesses about the future, but I haven't gone back into my archives for them. I have, however, scanned an article from December 1976, about a ME Corvette concept car I have personally driven. That's next...

The December 1976 issue of Motor Trend places the mid-engine Aerovette on the front cover. Looks promising, doesn't it?

And, here is the same car, along with Bill MItchell's 1959 Sting Ray Racer. We're loading them into the 2nd storey ballroom for a 1982 Corvette Convention in a Niagara Falls Canada hotel.

Yeah, I'd say a mid-engine Corvette is looooooooong overdue!

Yup, we'll know when GM wants us to know, most of the speculation from rag's articles about looks, cost, performance, etc....... was to generate $$$$ from sales, because they don't know crap. :(

I really hope the 'spy shots' of the mid-engine C8 have been a distraction from the real C8. Images I see of mid-engine cars have a certain similarity, I'd hate for a Corvette to fall into this category.
