One to Remember in the Future

As Chuffer didn't seem to have much luck with his "chav fest" show recently (see his post near this one), I thought I'd post up some photos of some nicer vehicles, and hopefully Chuffer will like the steamers. This is the Bridgwater Classic Vehicle show, and are just some of my photos.

There was a C3 pace car there too, but it appears I didn't get a photo of it there :O . I followed in the Lotus Esprit Turbo HC into the show ground - lovely car, and lovely couple that have owned it for 24 years. Prior to that, had another Lotus Esprit for a long time too. That car was mint, and he did all the work himself and was happy to tell us all about it. He was amused with my Vette though, saying that when we were in the queue for admittance he felt his car rumbling etc courtesy of my Vette :D

Gotta say the chap in the orange hi-vis that was interviewing people during the "car drive-by" really knew his cars. He would talk about a whole variety of cars as they went by with lots of info, and knew about my Vette too, including the oddities of the 1968 (which mine is). I was wondering if it would catch him out, but alas not. Wonderful chap.

I also had a soft soft for the Rover V8 3500S - manual and in estate form. I loved it. It was there for the weekend as it had a caravan nearby. There was also a Douglas Gardner Cobra Replica with a 7 litre V8 in it, but again I don't seem to have a photo of it. It took part in the drive by and sounded great.

What a great looking show , glad you had a good time . Love the piccies and the traction injins large and small . (y) I bet you didn`t get dick heads in lurid and lowered Evo`s and Vauxhall Astra VXR`s playing silly buggers on main road after the leaving the event . I had one in front and one behind me trying to goad me into a road race , even attempting a wrong lane inside overtaking maneuver at a roundabout !! Needless to say I made sure he didn`t succeed !

Oh man, that sucks having the chavs trying to do all that stuff. I grew out of that many, many years ago. The worst I do at shows is during the parade / drive by (which is all done slowly for safety reason), I blip the throttle here and there because you know people want to hear these cars as well as see them move.

Shame you're too far away to have attended this show as it was much better than I thought. I'd not been before, and thought it'd be quite small. But actually it was quite well supported with a lot of people staying over in caravans and so forth. I didn't get any photos of it, but there were people doing a "cowboy / western" show, there were lots of lovely old static engines powering pumps and saws etc, some people with old guns through history and they gave a demonstration of some of them, various stalls around with lots of nice stuff, tractors, fire engines, trucks, MANY cars of different ages and models etc. Not a bad day out, and the people seemed all really friendly. And as you asked - no, no morons doing racing at the show or showing off, or doing dangerous driving when leaving the show etc.

Forgot to say - there was also supposed to be a fly over by a Spitfire around lunchtimeish at the show according to the adverts, but on the day was swapped to a Hawker Hurricane which I'm happy with as I don't see them as much as the Spitfire. But for some reason the plane coming for the fly-over was low on fuel before approach, so diverted to Bristol airport for fuel. One can only assume the plane had been doing a route around that day visiting many shows and some such, and had got low on fuel before us.
Unfortunately, when at Bristol airport he got stuck on the ground waiting for a take off window so he could continue on over to us. Alas, we never saw the Hurricane before we left at the end of the show.

What a pity the Hurri didn`t show up ! As you say , much more interesting than the Spit which is becoming a bit `ubiquitous ` . Sounds a fab event and very similar to the annual Kimbolton Classic Car & Country Fair not far from us which has lots of different things going on with military re enactment groups , B of B fly pasts , hundreds of classics and a traction engine or two and all set in fabulous grounds and manicured lawns of Kimbolton Castle that is now a posh private school .
As for chavs needing to grow up , some of the guys with hot hatches and VW Caddy vans with sound systems that would put Pink Floyd to shame were easily 50 / 60 years old and looked just as you would expect , the dross of human society ! Probably on benefits which means you and I paid for their custom ` wheels` !
