Can you tell what it is yet?

Quite enjoyed finishing this off today. A couple of builders I know (and jolly good chaps) made the perimeter frame for me a while back whilst they were making some repairs/extensions to the patio. In the sunshine today I finished off the vertical posts for the body mounts. Lifting gantry in production - body off (and hopefully back on again) next month........

Modern rendition of an 'old school' rack - either for torture purposes (perhaps 'pleasure' for some diverse folk) or drastic remedial action for some of our shorter people?

Well in concept it bears a similarity to something I built a few years ago - ladder frame, wheels, six pick up points......

Mine ended up carrying this.....

...so I'm guessing your 'torture rack' is destined to have a C3 body sitting on it in the near future?

Daimler Dart/SP250 - lovely. When my C4 arrived last year the other car on the delivery trailer was a dark blue Dart in really good condition.

Yes - this is the dolly for the C3 body which is going to come off next week (hopefully). More pictures soon.

I've been toying for some time with the idea of replacing the valve stem seals in my 350 sbc. Browsing Amazon I came across these. In appearance they don't differ from many other seemingly identical items for sale on the internet. What's interesting is the price - £1.94! You don't get much for £1.94 and free shipping these days so just out of curiosity as much as anything else, I've bought a set. The seller 'Moonyeu' I suspect originates from somewhere rather distant from the "Good ol' US of A" and after Trump's recent 'muscle flexing' I'm guessing they'd be rather pricier in the States. Be interesting to see what they're like when they turn up....

If something sounds too good to be true it usually is . They will be cheap Chinese products made out of sub standard materials . My next door neighbour is a passed master at buying cheap Chinese rubbish on Ebay for everything from cars to his garden tools and then wonders why the either break during fitting or fail within a couple of weeks use . He never learns and I take the pee out of him mercilessly !!!

Some things from China are fine and of good quality, but the real cheap stuff is terrible.
You pays your money and take your chance.

Oh Happy Day !!! The sun is shining and the C3 is out after it`s winter service and general fettling and tinkering . Took it for a 39 mile spin to blow out the cobwebs , fill up with 99 RON and drop in on Williams Brothers Racing for a quick chat with the guys and ogle the amazing Americana they had at the workshops . All ready now for Bernies V8`s at Silverstone on Sunday with the weather set fair . (y)

Well, my seals have arrived.....

What to say? They look indistinguishable from alternatives at ten times the price and being basically a three part construction (a polymer body and two metal rings) there is obviously limited scope for variation. All parts seem dimensionally correct and identical; the internal spiral oil groove seems well defined although there is some flashing around the lip which shouldn't affect sealing. The main possibility for cost saving is probably the polymer material. This type of seal is typically made from Viton and/or PTFE. I've no way of verifying the composition so I guess I have to take this on trust.
Certainly Chinese products can vary widely in quality, In the past I've bought both rubbish and excellent alternatives to more expensive american and european manufactured items.
The obvious prime market for these seals is the USA - there are more Ford/GMC V8's there than anywhere else. Following the recent punitive US/Chinese tariff wars there is apparently already evidence of Chinese goods originally destined for the States being 'dumped' on the UK market via outlets such as Amazon and Shein in order to avoid tariffs and recover as much of their cost as possible. These seals have been sold on Amazon for the last three years but I suspect the current pricing is very recent in order to clear out old stock in anticipation of future 'dumps'. Be interesting to watch the UK pricing on Chinese made products originally destined for a larger market in the USA.

Just wait until they start flooding the market with ultra cheap EV`s they can`t shift elsewhere . Just heard on news today that some UK military sites are banning Chinese EV`s allowed on the property for fear that the cars may contain `spy chips` in the electronics that may pick up high security intelligence and a security issue !!!

They may flood the market with vehicles they are unable to sell elsewhere (don't forget the UK has minimal tariffs on Chinese vehicles......unlike 99% of other countries) - don't forget that a significant part of that vehicle price you pay will goes to the UK based distribution network and the UK dealers who have no doubt been looking for 'new' dealerships that offer them far better margins than many of the 'premium' european brands (whose UK distribution networks and dealerships are all going bust and shutting-up shop at an alarming rate), quite possibly to set-up new franchise businesses selling Chinese vehicles. Don't actually see any really 'cheap' Chinese manufacturered vehicles here in the UK........far too many people taking their margins for the car to be really 'cheap' and competitive.
Are you individually satisfied that all the servicing parts and spares will be available? - what about replacement body panels in the event of a prang - happy about getting those in the UK?
