Rotted out weatherstrip atop the screen..

Redid the weather stripping atop the windscreen of my '87.

Didn't fancy paying out loads of dosh for a full kit, so i bought some waterproof neoprene self adhesive strip and made my own. Turned out a very neat job.
Made it oversized, then refitted the roof and trimmed around it with my trusty Swann-Morton No.11. 30mins and about 10GBP.

The original strip is in two layers, narrow and wide, each about 5mm thick. I bought two sizes, 6mmx32, and 6mmx20. The 6x20 fitted the stainless steel track snugly and the 6x32 covered it all up on top to fill the whole area.

Blasted it with the jetwash and result! No more leaks.

No leaks and no "squeaks" ? On my C4 (now sold), had the 4 piece stick-on Velcro like pieces that you stuck on each corner of the roof. From Ecklers and/or MidAmerica. Think they made a difference?

Mine was an '85. Your '87 will have the those (torsional rigidity) strengthening bits they added under the car after that? Z52 option?

No Z numbers, my '87 is a base model. No additional strengthening added either.
I'm aware that this can be an emotive subject, but reading the US forums, it seems that some C4s flex while others do not. I have no creaks or noises and jacking up one wheel without the roof presents no issues to door or hatch closing.
Ive been in a few wobbly softtops (Escort, Saab, Punto, Cavalier) so I know how that feels with fuzzy mirrors etc. Maybe some C4 halos are fitted better than others.
