Chevrolet great I assume you knew the Corvette.
Fantastic to think that earlier C3's with front air dam and rear spoiler were regularly hitting 200 mph and higher on the Mulsanne Straight at Le Mans with slightly de-tuned L88 engines (and presumably tall tyres and an ultra low ratio rear-end).
Zero listed L88. -How many L88 owners/cars in the club/UK Ross (if any?)?
1967 - 1969 Corvette Stingray L88 Model Guide
Recently, we published a "best of/worst of" article that excluded the 1967-1969 L88 Corvette. We felt we should correct the oversight. Here, now, is a look at one of the greatest Corvettes ever made, the Corvette L88!www.corvsport.com
That was a little before my time Funchi - did visit the meeting once but without a Corvette - but back then I didn't feel 'part' of things (not being in a Vette) - however I DO recall a 427 tri-powered C2 ragtop finished in a fairly faded and badly cracked maroon colour. Older gentleman driver it (possibly mid 70's) was complaining about seemingly never able to cure fuel leaks and poor running with the carbs. Can't recall the name - he might have come from Chigwell. This was at the American Independent car club local meeting at the Albion pub near Dovers Corner just off the old A13. I only ever went there once as any cars there seemed to be day vans or late model American shoeboxes - no muscle cars - C2 kinda stood out really.Hi Roscobbc almost on topic above, do you or any other club member remember when the CCCUK meeting was held at the Golden Lion London Colney we had a club member a little older than normal, who sold a lovely C2 Corvette 427 Tri Power which he purchased new, for a C5 Corvette, which even then raised a few eyebrows, because even then they were worth a lot of money, and now a car like that sky high, I have spoken with Keith Betchi and thinks the gentleman's first name was Alexander.
