The take off adapter in the bottom hose that goes to the expansion tank won’t seal properly so I’ve had a take off welded into the aluminium pipe instead and will replace the hose with one with no take off.

So when and where is your first track outing going to be?

Actual first competitive event is looking like Prescott end of May for a hillclimb and then Brands beginning of June with CSCC.

Will be out in the Mini first weekend of April at Brands as long as I get the gearbox rebuilt.

Typical, I'm going to Brands on first weekend in May! Not sure yet if I'm free first weekend in June.
How about a shakedown test on 16th April, I'm doing a trackday with my son at Bedford aerodrome in his MX5, so you could definitely take us down the straights!

Won’t be ready by then as a holiday is getting in the way hence the latish start in June. The main thing I still have to do before testing is get a quieter exhaust fitted so I can then get it on a rolling road.

Door cards and handles now fitted, just need to finish the door tops.

Been round the block and it’s stumbling a bit under heavy braking so need to have a look at the carb.

Exhaust is fitted and off to collect in the morning. It’s apparently 10dbA quieter which is hopefully enough, will find out tomorrow.

Back home now and it is quieter, much quieter, no need for ear plugs now but I’m not sure it’s quiet enough. I’ve measured it at 105dba. I think the next step is to get it tuned properly so it’s running well and then re-measure.

I think that is too loud and danger to your hearing

Accepted standards for recommended permissible exposure time for continuous time weighted average noise, according to NIOSH and CDC, 2002.
For every 3 dBs over 85dB, the permissible exposure time before possible damage can occur is cut in half.

Continuous dB Permissible Exposure Time

85 db 8 hours
88 dB 4 hours
91 db 2 hours
94 db 1 hour
97 db 30 minutes
100 db 15 minutes
103 db 7.5 minutes
106 dB 3.75 min (< 4min)
109 dB 1.875 min (< 2min)
112 dB .9375 min (~1 min)
115 dB .46875 min (~30 sec)

As I did dBA sound testing with windows open and closed at different driving speeds including hard WOT
Try to it below 85 dBA in drivers area

I little music for the morning :
