100% John - as a 'user' you need to be 'ahead of the curve' so to speak re. selection of company cars......and yes choose self charging hybrid and you'll save a gradually diminishing amount of BIK - you'll do better with a 'plug-in' hybrid (and you don't even need to use the 'plug-in' facility to get the benefit) - choose a full electric vehicle and you will currently get far more BIL benefit - you company also pro-rata financially benefits.......currently. I emphasise the word 'Currently' as HMG are continually 'moving the goalposts', encouraging use of supposedly 'green' vehicles and then later 'pulling' the benefits in successive years of use.

Florida men hacked gas pumps to get pennies on gallon as prices continue to soar

Four Florida men were busted for installing devices inside gas pumps that dropped prices down to nearly nothing, an alarming trend that officials said will only spread with fuel costs soaring.
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services said the suspects installed sophisticated “pulsators” inside pumps that regulate price and fuel flow.
The devices sent per-gallon costs plunging down to just pennies and allowed pumpers to fill up almost for free.
The fraudsters allegedly pulled off the scheme at two separate Circle K stations in Lakeland and Lutz.

Illegal aliens Rogelio Llerena and Yulier Garcia-Martinez were busted on March 12 while topping off an oversize gas tank in Lakeland.

The devices sent per-gallon costs plunging down to just pennies and allowed pumpers to fill up for almost nothing.
Garcia-Martinez even had a remote device to manipulate the pulsators, officials said.
Also, Yordian Diaz-Benitez, of Tampa, was arrested at a Lutz station

Wow. Who would have thought the $7 a gallon. Gas was so cheap in the USA for so long, hence being able to use big thirsty cars, something they took for granted. Must be hitting them hard.
Top marks to the two hackers, very ingenious.

@richie500 Was the guy that tuned your engine called steve?
His name is Graham, he owns Rawspeed Engine tuning, he has tuned a few corvette's and American cars in the past, however now he concentrates on building one speedster engine a week and tuning Porsche's for a local garage when needed. I was lucky as my next door neighbour is his sister in law, however i still had to wait.

We've been 'here' with fuel costs before - in fact several times over the last 50 odd years or so. People will forget in time.....OK, so big cube lo po emissions era Caddi's, Lincoln's and the like perhaps will be less desirable with their single figure thirst......but they were never going to be first choice anyway really unless ultra low mileage and in commensurate condition (more like a runner-up prizes possibly for those who had missed the boat on something maybe more collectible?)

Well , it should mean that gas will go down by 5p a litre. In reality however it will depend on the sellers to pass this on to the gas buying public. I think there will be pressure on retailers to do this.

If I understand fuel taxation correctly, there is currently something like 57 odd pence of fuel tax on every litre of fuel. Then there is 20% VAT on top of the total price per litre of fuel (inclusive of retail price AND the fuel tax). With the current high price of fuel, the Government is raking in extra cash from the 20% VAT part and they can easily afford to drop 5p off the fuel tax part (so 57p fuel tax per litre goes to 52p fuel tax per litre), and still be better off with more tax than they were getting before this all started when we were at our previous prices.

My local Shell was £1.79.9 pre Spring Statement. Day after the 5p cut it was £180.9. Two other local, not Shell, stations had reduced price by 5p to £173.9 not sure what Shell are playing at.

No decrease in price by anybody in my area Enfield as of this morning. For every day they can keep prices up, they are making bundles.

Garages are claiming that they need to use up pre tax cut fuel stocks before selling at new prices . Funny how they bump up prices immediately when oil prices go up even though they are selling old stock yet trot out the "old stock stock , old price " bull every time !!!
