I thought it was the end user who paisd the tax on the fuel - not the retailer.Same in my area, the prices have gone up by 6p not down.....
Simple, but crafty marketing technique - raise the price unneccesarily.........so you can reduce it in a 'sale' and tell the public that you have made a price cut.
Not as supposedly 'sophisicated' a 'con' where all the old crap that a store wants to clear is simply stored away for 6 months so that when they put it out for sale saying "sale 75% off" with a small comment underneath to the effect that the item hasn't been on sale in the the store (at the supposedly higher price) for a period of less than 6 months or something.
