I blame the Roman`s , they started it , the Normans took it too a new level , and every ruling power has done it to us ever since . Maybe we should start smuggling like back in the old days . I bet Mad4 Slalom knows a few quiet coves down there in Cornwall !Reduce Tax are very nasty words in the UK.
Yep, I saw diesel for Β£1-95 on Saturday at a BP station on the A1. Dangerously close to Β£2/litre, so depressing if that happens.Saw diesel in a BP station in crouch end today @1.96 thatβs a whopping Β£8:89 a gallon. Bloody hell .
What lump is powering your Jeep ? That Harley is a gas guzzler at only 20mpg !!! I can get more than that out of my Hemi V8 Grand Cherokee if I am just cruising .View attachment 15980
Bike 20mpg, Jeep 15mpg, Corvette 12mpg, I'm am thinking of setting up a go fund me page
Worked two jobs for nearly 40 years and now the Government are going to take all pleasure out of life.
Its a 4.0 petrol auto UK original and yes considering a Hemi V8 does better mpg makes me even more depressed , the Harley is an ex race bike (came 3rd in the championship) so handles and goes like stink however the sacrifice is the mpg as i found out the hard way running out of fuel on the Tamar bridge and then getting shouted out by a van driver "thats why you should never buy a Harley" he didn't realise it was fuel not mechanical issues. However when the jeep is gone and my finances get sorted maybe this year hopefully there will be a space in my garage for another Vette. What lump is powering your Jeep ? I thought you already had one ! A car that is , not a wife .I don't plan to get married so that money can go to a car.
There was me thinking you had shoe horned a big block into the Jeep ! But I guess an old school 4 Litre petrol auto ain`t gonna be too frugal . The Hemi has the advantage of variable displacement to cut out 4 cylinders under light load otherwise consumption would be eye watering . It `s also got an upgraded induction system for better air flow giving around 345 bhp and 390 ft/ lbs torque so 0 - 60 should be around 6.8 secs ish . The guy who preps the race cars where I keep my C3 has been working on a Harley like yours recently for a mate of his who owns several bikes .Its a 4.0 petrol auto UK original and yes considering a Hemi V8 does better mpg makes me even more depressed , the Harley is an ex race bike (came 3rd in the championship) so handles and goes like stink however the sacrifice is the mpg as i found out the hard way running out of fuel on the Tamar bridge and then getting shouted out by a van driver "thats why you should never buy a Harley" he didn't realise it was fuel not mechanical issues. A friend just mailed me, gas has gone down in Clearwater FL by 1 cent.Crude oil prices on the global market are beginning to drop so hopefully we should see that reflected at the pumps soon .
Music to my ears (but perhaps not my neighbours!....)Extremely noisy exhausts often significantly impove fuel consumption........

Mildly tuned 454, the previous owner had it for 40 years and did a body off restoration himself using all the right bits - upgraded the radiator, headers, cam, complete new wiring loom the list goes on and on. New his stuff as he had about 4 engines he was rebuilding for friends, his workshop was ever boys dream it was a large barn with a roller shutter door each end with a 4 poster lift various mills lathes etc. He is in his 70's and had corvette's since he was a teenager, only C3 and older no new stuff.Yes, those old school 4.0 litre motors were very heavy on juice, what motor is in the corvette, surely not a standard 350? If itβs not a big block it should do more than 12mpg.
