Just to update my earlier comments, I've gone with Classicline in the end. They were slightly more expensive that Howdens however this was mainly due to the Vette being my only car (now there's an incentive to adding something else to the fleet!) and me needing to go for 5k miles not 3k as due to a local road collapse my only regular small journey has now tripled in distance. That said, their policy was far more comprehensive than anything else I was quoted for so there are savings to be had elsewhere, like the breakdown cover and a few other bits.

The biggest selling point for me was customer service, I spoke to a guy called Lee at Classicline and the initial quote took 15 mins from when I called to hanging up, his knowledge and helpfulness was brilliant. Howdens took an hour, they were very polite but had no clue what car I was calling about and needed to go through every tiny detail, not the agents fault but it was very obvious she had no idea what a Corvette was and needed to go through every drop-down with me. To me, that knowledge is worth the extra as well.

One last point, my previous insurance was through a broker but the underwriter was KGM. They're renewal was £980 (up from £430 I think!). Howdens lowest quote was also with KGM as the underwriter, same terms as my current one but at £560ish. When I called my current broker back, the lowest they said they could do was £840. I've no idea where the disconnect is there as it was the same underwriter but goes to show how ringing around can make a massive difference.

Renewed the insurance on my 69 convertible yesterday.

Premium went up just £3 from last year, to £190 pa. Dropped my mileage limit from 3000 to 1500, which didn’t actually change the premium but did drop the excess from £250 to £150.

Pretty happy with that after expecting a fairly big rise based on what others have experienced.

I went through Peter S Taylor (Howden), with the underwriter being KGM.
