Other classic cars

A good friend had one in about 1979 ish, it was in white but heavily custom painted with wolfrace wheels and Thrush outsiders. I think it was called born in a barn. Lovely car. Tried to prise it away from him a few times, then he sold it when he got a new shape T/A in 1982. Pity he got a horrible beige colour one, bloody awful.

That’s what is great about modern technology, with your mobile/cell phone you’ve always got a camera handy. When I think back, I would have a marvellous collection of car pics if back then was now.

Those first generation camaro’s are real nice. The 1967/68 models for years were unloved and lived in the Mustangs shadow. The 1969 however was always a little bit special especially in RS, SS or RS/SS versions. Saw a old episode of minder the other day, he had a 1968 convertible on the lot, same colour blue as the picture, white interior and top. It was used in a couple of driving sequences, looked real nice.

Didn't realise this was ever an option!
It’s very very rare. Dad had a Caprice estate with hideaways as his own car for a while, we always had a wagon as we had dogs. Both my sister and me thought it was soo cool to have a car with eyelids.

I love the 1st gen Camaro too. When I originally started looking for my first Yank car I wanted to get a 1st gen Camaro and found a lovely black 396 4 speed manual for sale. Didn't get to see it for real though as was only casually looking at the time and still deciding on what options were out there. Obviously at some point my Vette drew me in and I bought that. Still would love a 1st gen Camaro though. Fab looking things, and like Chuffer said I never massively understood the appeal of the Mustangs as they were too common and too "obvious" as a Yank car to own. Every car show in the southwest I'd been too had Mustangs galore, but I'd never seen a C3 Vette for real until I got mine, and only seen a 1st gen Camaro once I think.

Early (even late) Camaro's are a relatively rare sight in the UK and even though I'm 'historically' a 'Ford' kinda person (er' was) Mustangs for me are a bit boring. Yes I had a '71 429 SCJ Mach 1, but in truth it was an ugly b'stard of a car, although far better at putting its power down to the road than my favourite 67/70 year 'Stang. Really like the intermediate sized Fairlane and Torino. Even Chevelles are a rare sight in the UK.

I always think Mustangs are the success of advertising over substance. I’d prefer a 60s T-bird, Galaxie or Torino if you’re going to the blue oval. They weren’t even that successful at racing when compared with their competitors.

Always liked cougars, love the hideaways and the sequential rear lights. Saw this on eBay yesterday and thought it looked good. Very period with its black vinyl roof and the dark green metallic suites it very well. They were also quite well appointed inside.
