I might be there on the Sunday but it’s a bit up in the air at the moment.

You’re only taking two? What about the other two?! 😂

I will certainly come and say hi if I make it over.
To be honest, I could have done without winning the car of the show in the Isle of Man which then commits you to displaying the car in the final with four others at the NEC as I've seen the others which are all amazing so I've undertaken a load of work on it to get it the best it can be

Prices of C3 chrome bumper corvettes are certainly on the way up, my contacts in the states provide me with regular updates on them .I am currently doing a body on restoration on 2 72,s which I think will be more sensibly priced

I'm seeing that as well and keep an eye on BAT to see trends. This is a very nice high horse small block with an older 20+ year restoration but could still use some fettling just sold for $65k

What doesn’t help from buying from/in the US for importation to the UK is the terrible exchange rate of approximately $1.20 to the pound. Also overland shipping costs and ocean freight cost are priced in Dollars, so no help there.
The only reprieve is the No duty and 5% VAT rule for vehicles 30+ years old.

The golden years for importing cars is long over.

Was looking through an old Hemings motor news from 1976. 65 mustang convertibles were $600, mid years $1000-$1600, 1967 427’s $2000.

Those were the days.

For the younger lot like me, I did a quick internet "value of pound in previous year compared to today" check out of interest:
Galaxie for £180 in 1975 = £1,862.06 today.
Javelin for £485 in 1976 = £4,305.03 today.
Galaxie for £495 in 1977 = £3,792.67 today (which is odd, as its less than the Javelin in 76. I Guess 77 must have been a huge pound value drop)
Mustang for £2k in 1982 = £8,704.59 today.

Just imagine if we could buy all those fantastic cars today for even the low values I've converted above. Wow.

(all converted values came from UK Inflation Calculator: GBP from 1751 to 2023 )

'Undersold' the Mustang in 1990 for £8500.....during a significant financial depression

Ha ha ! I had a new kh250 in 76 , we wish we still had them 🤣👍
Yes, me too. Mine was in metallic blue
I loved the look of the triple exhaust as well as the sound. Friends had RD 250 ( Yamaha) and Suzuki 250 GT. I was the only one to have a Kawasaki.

The Shelby was to stop me getting the bigger bike, but had already arranged the deal to P/X my FS1E DX, so I ended up with both.

Dad bought me a 1969 Shelby GT500 in 1977 it cost £600. My new Kawasaki KH250 was £525 in 1977

Hmm, reminds me, back in mid 1970s I had a Kawasaki H2
500 CC 2 stroker
Had so much torque off the line, I barely could prevent the front end front swinging upward

UK H2’s were 750cc, the earlier H1’s were 500cc. Nice bikes . They competed with the water cooled Suzuki GT750 which was a great bike.

I had one of those GT750s ran nice but the extra weight of the radiator and coolant could feel that in balance
I got talked into by some buddies to trade for a Honda 750, did not like it, too quiet and 4 stroker

I went to a Harley shop to try and trade, and they laughed at me,
I thought they were going to beat me up :)

Great bikes, not as quick as the yamarrarrs but better styling and a unique sound, my mate had a powder blue leather jacket to match his cb250 and it was speckled with 2 stroke oil whenever he was behind the kwacker !🤣. Traded mine in for an Ian dyson RD400 with fullfairing and tank and seat unit , ace bars and rear sets ! Used to wheelie everywhere 🫣

Now you tell me!

Oddly the '71 is also still up for sale at the original dealers at the same (£72.5k) asking price.
Tim , just think what someone without your skill and tenacity would have had to pay a third party to do the sort of jobs you have tackled !😱💲💲💲💲
I would love to be standing on the corner of your street the day you go for you first drive , just to see the smile on your face , talk about the cat that got the cream ! 🤣👍
