Seems a snip by today`s inflated prices but in the context of the era it was still a lot of money .

Not for Americans. A college kid with a part time/ summer job could afford the payments on the 65 vette at $2650.

Back then the salary differential between UK and USA for even the most menial jobs was markedly different.........perhaps a bit different now?

Plus the things like import tax, special car tax, purchase tax really pushed the price up for us uk buyers.

I suppose it will also depend on what state you live in. My friends โ€œ Tecโ€ guys are paid $ 100k + bonus in FL .
They help clients with problems, visit clients in Dade /Broward counties.

I would imagine double that at least for NYC or San Fran.
So at the current exchange rate thatโ€™s about ยฃ80k .
Anybody?

I'm a "tec guy" for the NHS in the UK, and I get paid 2 packets of crisps a month, and if I work hard that month I get a bonus of a half chewed bit of bubblegum.

Literally just finished eating a packet of them for my late lunch. And yes, they were Walkers!
Any section of society or business that starts to earn 'proper' money is at high risk of 'beancounters' stopping things in favour of employing/using alternative employees or sources and getting rid of high earners/minimising commissions/bonuses/disadvantageous terms and conditions. Excepting of course old school tie bankers and their like who will always look after their own......

Yes, cheese and onion is my favourite as well. I remember as I kid when Golden wonder bought out Roast chicken flavour, absolutely loved them.

I grew up in the days where only plain crisps were available . It took me ages to fathom out why the blue one in the bottom of the bag was more salty than all the others !! :ROFLMAO:

Smiths ready salted. Are they still about? Are golden wonder still about as a brand. I think they made the crisps for the supermarkets. Itโ€™s all walkers now.

Smiths was the one you had to salt yourself , hence the little blue bag . Imagine having to do things for yourself !!!!
Golden Wonder as brand disappeared some years ago I think . My real favourite is McKoys crinkle cut but a bag of crisps still remains the most expensive way of buying a potato .
